True the NCAA hasn't been a model of consistency. Maybe I'm over thinking it. It's been a rough couple years. I automatically assume the worst.

I think the fans need to start a chant of "Bring Back Bruce" the final two home games of the season since you say the AD is not listening or paying attention to what the fans want.

Howland, Smart, Marshall, Buzz Williams, Jamie Dixon (huge leap on my part). Any of these coaches would be a drastic upgrade.

I think the reason so many are "Pearl or Bust" is because he is the one proven coach we feel confident we can get if we offer him the job. He has ties to the program, clearly still loves the program and lives in Knoxville. Basically, we feel confident he WANTS us. The odds are not high that any of those other very good coaches will actually WANT us. Most fans feel/fear if we don't hire Pearl then it will be another Martin type hire which moved the program deeper into being irrelevant.

Howland unemployed
Smart VCU
Marshall WSU
Williams Marquette
Dixon Pittsburgh

With the exception of Pitt, there is no comparison in program status.

Marquette has some history but Tennessee is a bigger job.

Pay the money and they will come.

You could have said that at almost every hire we have made and we got.....Devoe,Houston,oneill, green, buzz, and Zo.

But that's just it, where are we going to get the money to pay for these guys? We have to pay them a salary, and their buyout. I don't know about you but I don't have a few million lying around.

Howland and Pearl are you two best options, money wise, they will be the cheapest since they won't have a buyout involved. If we're going on who a "better" coach, your choices might be Marshall, Howland, and Smart since they have been to the Final Four.

So the question now becomes, does the UT AD scrounge up the money to get a high profile coach such as the ones you listed, or do they save money and get an up and comer who may or may not pan out?

Bruce reminded people what kind if job this is.

It takes the right guy for sure. No one wanted the job after Bruce out of fear of sanctions.

There is no way UT pulls an established coach.

If they fire Martin and pass on Pearl, they will go after another bargain coach and hope they can find another Butch Jones.

Travis said the same to Brice on the radio today. Said if they don't hire Bruce they will hire some guy no one has ever heard of.

Brice said he believes Hart won't screw it up like that.

I doubt it. If I'm Hart though, I could try to sell him on the fact that the guy that passed on him to hire Bruce Pearl and Cuonzo Martin is no longer in charge, and that my interest in him is actually serious. Again, I doubt it would work...but it couldn't hurt to try.

The is sad, I agree. Some people blamed Obama, some blamed Hamilton. Might as well add Kiffin to the list. It was a self inflicted wound.

Certain posters here are argumentative and arrogant. It's not helping and karma is a b@@@@. I can only wish them the best...I went back and read several posts when CCM was hired....interesting.

OBTW, these guys are control freaks....drama driven thugs...and I care for no one that bullies their opinion across the board....
