Utah State opens as early Vegas favorite @Tennessee

One guy posted this...and Damn! This is sad, but true:

That said, this is not UT of 10 or 15 years ago.

1. Very few guys on the roster have ever experienced a winning college football season.
2. Very few guys on the roster have ever even been to a bowl game.
3. Even fewer, if any, have ever won a bowl game.
4. They have won a grand total of 4 SEC contests in the past 3 seasons. FOUR, including Kentucky twice!
5. Their Wins over the past 3 seasons are not exactly sparkly. (Austin Peay, Western Kentucky, South Alabama, South Carolina (good win), Kentucky, NC State, Georgia State, Akron, Troy, Kentucky, Montana, Cincinatti, Buffalo, Middle Tennessee St., Vandy.

Do we have a player on our roster that has played in a bowl game?

Devrin Young? AJ Johnson? I'm pretty sure Devrin played in the MC Bowl, but don't recall if AJ was playing as a true FR yet. I assume he was, or he would have been a RS.

Coleman? Marlin Lane?

I'm sure there are other SR's that got some playing time.

Ok buddy, we know you're a troll, you're beginning to be a prick. Run on back to your usufans.com site now.

They have a free interactive game, where your character attempts to seduce as much livestock as possible before the Evil Rancher runs you off the property

I think those guys arrived in '11.

I just went on USU site. This is the second time I've ever gone over another team's site. They keep talking about Oregon did to us. They must have lost their minds. USU is a good team or was last year but they would have gotten beat as bad or worse as we did. We will win..I just don't know by how much.

We don't "keep talking about what Oregon did." That's a deliberate misstatement by you. I went to Oregon, and what I said was that you guys talked crap to Oregon like crazy before the game in Knoxville, so we shouldn't be surprised you think you'll kill usu.

Who did? I don't remember anyone "talking crap" or even realistically thinking we would beat Oregon.

Just saw your post and yeah there were 2 or 3 posters on there saying we went there talking. They even had a video with some dude they said predicted Vols to win both times. They were saying if the ducks beat us that bad that they wouldn't have a problem. Mistatement is a PC word and I'm not a PC guy. Don't come on this site and call me a liar without checking your own site.

So, in their world this is how the logic works:

2013 UT VOLS travel 2500 miles to play the #2 team in the nation 2013 OREGON DUCKS in a completely different climate and in front of a large hostile crowd, OREGON DUCKS win big as expected. Therefore, 2014 UTAH STATE HAGGIES (unranked, but THE reigning Poinsettia Bowl Champions) should be expected to travel 1800 miles to Knoxville in the summer humidity and badly defeat the 2014 UT VOLS in front of a crowd that is 4 TIMES LARGER than the USU stadium capacity.

CONCLUSION: Same big win against same team, but the road game gives the edge to....2014 UTAH STATE. Ergo, 2014 UTAH STATE > 2013 OREGON DUCKS. Right, right.

Just looked at the first handful of posts but this cracked me up:

"Re: Fun with Vols
Postby ag4fr » February 20th, 2014, 12:30 am

I'm liking the fact that we have an inside man on our squad this time. Gray has suited up for the guys in the gaudy orange. I think he can have a calming and powerful influence on our ability to believe that we can go there and win."

Daniel Gray is who they are referring to there. Dooley recruit who couldn't cut it under Butch and transferred to Utube State to play wiht some high school friends. Good kid, wish him the best. Note however that he didn't help our team win in Knoxville when he was here, so I doubt he helps them do it. Ha

I don't need to check my own site because the posts you are talking about are my posts. And the "keep talking about oregon" refers to a total of two posts that I made, both of which talk about how confident the fans were for the oregon game. I know it wasn't a majority, and i heard great things from people who went to the game at UT. But i seem to remember a thread laughing at "pac-12 speed" and another laughing at the dinky little stadium oregon played in (though I think people also said OP is stupid, oregon's stadium is awesome).

there are 58,490 members and we're closing in on 10 millions posts. If someone wants to pick out 1 or 2 posts and claim it backs their argument then that's their prerogative. However to apply those thoughts to the entire UT fanbase is ridiculous and ignorant. Just my :twocents:

That is painful to read and every detail is basically true. Poster is probably a nega vol.

This always happens. A few opposing fans come in and stir the pot and a few of our posters go full attack mode. In my opinion we will win the game based on our talent, size and home field advantage. I expect freshmen to get playing time and make some mistakes but we pull away in the second half. The fact is if USU fans travel to Neyland they will be treated with respect both before, during and after the game. Our band will actually learn and play their fight song during the pre-game.

Go cue up the Oregon game day threads. There were plenty of posters on here convinced UT would win that game....the basic justification being UT plays in the SEC.

Already backtracking? Couple of things, most people I knew didn't think we had much of a chance against Oregon. Most of the posts were saying beat the spread and so on. That being said if you think Utah State resembles Oregon in any way, you're on crack.

Assuming they have a fight song.

I hope we continue to be the underdog. This will make em hungry. I expect a tight game, with us getting the W late.

Mostly true... and completely irrelevant.

FWIW, the wins that this guy makes fun of minus APSU and GSU would constitute VERY good or even GREAT wins for USU.

We are a 6-6 team at best right now and frankly this game looks like a loss. We have too many holes and a talented freshman class does not equate to great things in the SEC. We are on the right track with Butch but we need more than one class to get better and stay better. Plus we actually need a QB who can run or pass (or both) consistently. Oh, and an offensive line that can run block AND pass block and a defensive secondary that doesn't resemble a sieve.

UT has more talent than USU with or without the Fr. If it is a loss then it will be because their coaches are better than UT's. Period.

I do not anticipate a loss. I think the best probability is that UT controls the game and wins in a a "not close" game... more than 11 pts.
