I mean, recruits, fans, and players would know Pearl is coming back. The 2014-2015 season would probably suck, given the talent level and his minimal preseason coaching, but it would be worth it.

Bruce made me want to watch b-ball.

Question from the "cheap seats"..... Has anything like this happened... where a coach was re-hired after infraction?
Lets make Bruce a "VFL".. think it would get some attention?

I can't think of one and it could very well be unprecedented. I would say that the closest thing to Bruce Pearl's firing that I can think of was Jim Harrick's firing at UCLA. It too was over a minor infraction that escalated because he lied about it. Harrick falsified an expense report about a dinner he had with two current players, Cameron Dollar and Charles O'Bannon and then lied to his AD about it. Harrick was hired a year later at Rhode Island and later at Georgia before academic fraud was uncovered on the part of his son. Any way you look at it Pearl's situation will be unusual because of how seriously he was punished - not because his offense was so terrible...

I think we could be real close to hiring another coach. CCM has the option of winning these last four SEC games and saving his job. A loss at Miss. State shuts the door can't lose to a 206 rpi team. Vandy can't lose to them at home. Auburn can't lose that one bad RPI team. Missouri can't lose that one at home although we would still have a shot with tournament wins if we won the previous three and lost to Missouri.
There is no way CCM stays if we miss the NCAA tourney.

Tennessee can do anything they have the courage to do. I am waiting to see if they got what it takes to get a coach in here who can bring winning basketball back to Tennessee. Regardless of whether we make the NCAA Tourney or not CCM is not the future of Tennessee basketball.

Unless we are willing to give him a multi-year contract and hope he greatly improves with experience, I agree completely.

If we keep CCM how much of an extension are we going to be willing to give him. Not to give him one makes him a lame ducker of a coach. Give him one and fans go nuts plus the blow back of attendance and the program will fall further into oblivion.

Catch 22...plus a no win situation.

I see no way a lame duck coach without an extension and based on what he has produce so far will only do more damage. We will not hold some of our recruits.

Hart gave Dools three, I thought he would give him 4 but he was wise enough to make the change. I don't see any reason why he would give CCM 4. When you think about it Dools was let go -- Fired-- with a relatively new staff.

Say what you what about CCM, but he has failed to make the necessary adjustments to at least be competitive and by doing so preseason expectations nor have standards been met.

Right now we are slated for a play in game. How did that work out for Alabama. It didn't. We don't deserve to be anywhere near the tournament and it shows itself on the players efforts.

CCM should have been in the tourney his first or second year here but bad losses cost us. With him at the helm, I always feel we will have a bad loss or two per season because of coaching, no matter what the talent level is on the team.

The idiots on the Enrichment Sports Source says no fan petition will have an effect in bringing Bruce back and it will only make it tougher to bring in a new coach if the AD does make a chance. This petition will only show potential coaches that the fans do not support the program. They were basically laughing at the petition.

I signed the petition. The sooner CCM is gone the better for the program.

I think the fact that a petition got started before a firing, alone with media coverage, and that it surpassed 10k before regular season's end got the Administration's attention.

As a result, This petition is hard to ignore and now at 20k and still growing, it has become something that cannot be just pushed aside.

I fear a stubborn pissing contest between the fans and potentially Cheek. With both elements flexing their muscles to prove who is in charge. Also, an organized Mattress Bon Fire in the making. Not because Pearl will not be hired, but because a change will not be made.

I don't disagree with you on that but watching Auburn games and looking at the seats, it should be a good example on what not to do......

We put our money in facilities and not into staff and coaches when it is needed. It is time for them to plug the hole before the Dyke blows. LOL.....No pun intended...
