The Runner's thread

I've never run 3 miles in a day, but it was fun. Great group of people. I'll be attending more hashes in my future, and I'm so glad we raised that much for Wounded Warrior's Project.

If you live in area where they do Yazoo Fun Runs, I suggest you check them out. So much beer...and they usually benefit some cause. The last fun run of 2013 purchased tons of toys for kids for Christmas, and the last one in Knoxville gathered tons of food for Second Harvest.

They have them in places in Mississippi and Alabama as well as Tennessee.

I have no idea what my pace was but I ran at least 3 miles yesterday. Trying to get back in it so not concerned with pace. I'm also better at going far than fast. It feels great running again from a roughly 3 month hiatus.

Welcome back. This thread is a good support

Pace is the last thing you should worry about. If you are out there running that's all that matters.

Thanks. I'm ready to get back in it. Next winter I will have a gym membership to back me up. I hate taking breaks but I also hate running in the cold.

Thanks smokey. I had the same thoughts yesterday.

I need to take my own advice sometimes though. I get discouraged when my pace is slower than normal.

3 miles today. 7:34 pace. I pushed myself today because it was a shorter distance than I have been running lately. Splits were 7:42, 7:42 and 7:13. Now if I could just do this on longer distances.

Ran 7.25 @ 8:43 yesterday morning. Was a tough one - 80 degrees, high humidity and full sun. Probably good, though, with half coming up this weekend. Starts at 6AM, so conditions will be much better; even in Florida.

80 degrees isn't so bad but the high humidity sucks!!!

The humidity really is the worst part. You're right about the temp; I dream of 80 degree days in the middle of summer.

I hate this time of year when one day it's in the 60's and the next its in the 30's or 40's. Makes running outside a drag sometimes

This slows me down a ton. I'll run one day and then the next three its sub 35. really hard to get a schedule going with it.

Started my half training yesterday. I ran too fast the first mile. I gotta learn to pace myself. Today is cross train day, so going to do a p90x core video

Did about the same 3 miler yesterday. Took about 30 minutes so I'm going with a 10 min pace. There are quite a few hills so I'm not bothered by it.

I am in the market for a new shoe. Any suggestions? I have been running with a Nike Lunarglide 4 and it has been pretty smooth but a little snug. I need something minimalist and have been looking at this Brooks shoe

Goldie.. I would recommend going to Fleet Feet in Turkey Creek since you live in Knoxville. You can try on a lot of different shoes and find one that feels good to you. That's where I bought my last two pair of Brooks and my Brooks trail shoes.
