Utah State opens as early Vegas favorite @Tennessee

They won 9 games, beat a top 20 team in a bowl game, get their stud QB back. We were awful vs good teams last year..... Only things I can figure.

that was the 2013 Utah State team. this is 2014. they lost more than we did. they get back a qb coming off an ACL and you expect him to be back to normal right off the bat?i dont see it. i would take this +2 bet all day long.

Didn't say what I expect. Just trying to figure out what Vegas sees. What do you think it is?

Wake up. You're an SEC doormat. In the last three seasons, you've won four conference games. Two of those were Kentucky and one was Vanderbilt.

Rumor has it the SEC is going to trade you to Conference USA for Rice and a case of beer.

See you in the fall.

Go Vols! Go AGGIES!

Now why would the SEC trade the 2nd most relevant team in its history when they could get rid of a team like A&M that relied on 1 good player the last 2 years. We will be fine. Can't wait to get back to where UT traditionally belongs. Then fans of 2nd rate programs like A&M can shut their pieholes

Not really.

UT was getting highly touted players early in the process. That's a reason for excitement.

I get that, it was the bragging about being ranked #1 in a subjective poll that wouldn't have any measurable result for about 3 seasons.

Can you blame them? We were number 1 in something, for once.

At the end of the day, I don't. UT has been down for so long, that any bright spot is celebrated.

Football isn't like basketball where a couple of new FR can take you to the title. It takes a little more time in football.

I completely agree, but being number one for awhile was pretty cool. Being top 5 at the END of the recruiting year was even better.

Seeing it produce on the field will be even better. Afterall, that's all that matters.

Butch can use this to a big advantage through the entire offseason conditioning program as well as sring and fall practice.

Does anyone know of a website where you can bet this?

I am sure someone has pointed this out, but I am not going to read through all these posts just in order to say that this not a Vegas line.
I am sure there is some where, some place, that you can bet on these games but its not going to be a real "Vegas" line - the kind that is usually very accurate.

Yes. They were a good mid-major that just lost a bunch of starters. That means that this game comes down to talent, not experience, and what the respective coaches are able to do with that talent.

While UT is the more talented team and should come away with a win, we should be cautious when gauging USU's talent. Gary Andersen, their coach up until last year, had a knack for finding under-the-radar players (similar to Butch Jones at CMU). He's gone, but he did presumably recruit USU's juniors and seniors.
