I'm not surprised - I was worried about this last year when I saw the schedule and people called me crazy

I think their recruiting rankings are more relevant in that regard.

IF UT's coaches are worth a dime... it should not be a close game. If it is a close game then UT should hire THEIR COACHES.

Sjt18, we've had our disagreements before, but I'm with you here. I hate to say BJ could lose me after one game, but its our home opener, lots of positive momentum in the program, lots of talented EEs, a fanbase starved for winning football.....if Butch and company cannot find a way to put together a solid, convincing win to open 2014, then I may start to doubt.

I don't think I appreciated just how great Pete Carroll was at USC. He won early with just the kind of young talent Jones will have. He beat very good and talented and experienced teams. He beat them by uniquely being able to coach those young guys up and then by outcoaching the opposition.

I don't really expect Jones to do that every week. But if he's the right guy then I'd like to see him win the ones he should in the fashion that he should... then pop up and genuinely outcoach someone once or twice per year. I'd like to see them competitive in every game.

Agree again. Vandy was a 9 win SEC team. It may hurt worse to lose to Vandy, but losing your opener at home to Utah State would be worse, much worse, for the program.

Utah State would be Vandy, by a pretty fair margin.

Not that it matters, but you were insinuating Vandy is/was better.

I suggest all of you that haven't, to actually watch Utah State play. Specially against good teams.

I think that's partially the problem with VN. They don't know the teams we play.

Getting the bad thoughts out of my head. I thinkwe give up a few big plays early but we win with a little cushion in the second half.

We're Not a juggernaut by any means, but they are losing 14 players from last year's squad, and who knows if Chuckie Keeton will be back to his normal self by then.

The "We are Tennessee" argument doesn't need to be made here, we're just better than them.

Is Utah rebuilding or reloading? If reloading, what year are the experienced players and how many games started/qtrs played/snaps taken .. does that group have. Any true freshmen?

Vegas doesn't plan on losing money, setting this line IS significant. Could very well be a tougher game than some are willing to admit. Especially if they are "reloading" with talent at some positions better than who left.

Anybody know?

Much like other SEC teams' message boards, VN doesn't really have their horizons set on any teams that aren't in the SEC.
