The ticket sales loss alone is over $2 million, makes no sense financially to retain him just to fire him. Like I said the other day, if Hart doesn't make a move after the year that tells me Hart thinks deep down that Martin can get it done here.

hart thought dools could get it done with more time n we all know how/well that turned out for tn...:loco:

hart is on the clock.

Correct I don't know what's gonna happen, however me saying denial, was to know and his general assumption that Pearl and Jones have stayed in Knoxville waiting patiently for 3 years to calmly walk back into TBA and take their spot on the bench. I'm sorry, but that's not either one of their reasonings for staying in Knoxville.

But it doesn't hurt that they are stun in Knoxville and CCM is struggling.

That's a completely unrealistic characterization of how Hart handled Dooley. Dooley got canned after year 3. That's moving at light speed as far as firing a football coach goes.

Football is fixed, IMO. Now all we need is patience while Butch gets his players.

I'm as big of a Coach Jones optimist as you'll find anywhere on this site, but I'll consider football "fixed" when we're winning 10+ and competing for the East every year. Though it's definitely nothing personal against you, I heard this line with Dooley, too, unfortunately. Just been burned too many times over the last few years, I guess.

That being said, I firmly believe Jones will get it done here.

we have got to start making noise. Don't let the people who say this could never happen stop you. We need to get the press involved on this, and start getting it talked about! Bruce paid for what he did and he is as good a hire as we could ever get! I believe 80% of fans would love this, we just have to shut the negative, it 'll never happen 20% up. Please if you are a student paint the rock with we want pearl! If i was there i would. I know i don't have the answers to getting the mission going but there are many of you out there who probably have great ideas. This is our public university and we can make a difference who gets in there!

not going to happen dip****!!!!!!

Let's put things in perspective from a business standpoint. Everyone is harping on the 1.6 million buy out, which is peanuts to the bigger picture. If Hart keeps CM then he will see an appreciable decline in revenue next year, but the bigger picture is the following years and what it takes to get back to a reasonable level of profitability. The profile of UT takes a hit on the college scene as each loss stacks up and mediocrity rules. This is business not a popularity contest and someone said it best yesterday, "if I had a sales person or sales manager that had not met a goal in three years" then is it fair to the business to keep digging that hole? Same here and I will close with something else yesterday and that is that he may or may not be a good guy but he HAS NOT involved himself with the students or Knoxville for that matter. He is never out promoting the University, the team, or the city, so as someone who owned a company with over three hundred employees this would be a no brainer to cut bait and move on. You either get it or you don't.

I agree. My problem with it is what you state. Until he proves that he is willing to change them and capable of finding coaches that can clearly get it done, then I remain skeptical of his abilities in that area. However, I have no doubt he is good with managing the finances and doing good deals for UT. He has been excellent in that area.

He's known he needed to change the direction of the track program. Not been done. The baseball program was fixed before he came. Now it is men's basketball. Will he get it done, or will he ride it out for another year like he wanted to do with Dools until he flopped again? He never got basketball done in his previous stops before UT. He gets credit for the Jones hire, but he loses credit as well because he lucked into it and conducted a messy, embarrassing search before the hire.

IMO, how he handles men's basketball will determine his legacy at UT forever. Hope he gets it done for all of our sakes.

Yep, like it or not this is a key element in coaching BBall @ UT. Ref: Ray Mears, Bruce Pearl. "Never" may be too strong, but from the outside looking in, his interaction has been minimal at best. I live outside of Tennessee and after 3 years on the job, I still have folks ask me ... "Who is the basketball coach at Tennessee?" A demeanor such as CM's will only work at Tennessee if you are consistently winning and competing for conference titles and NCAAT. One and done in NIT year-in-year out will not cut it (IMO).

silly post is stupid.. dave hart hasn't had to put one ounce of thought or effort into football since handing the reigns to Butch Jones

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not here, but Hart's hiring of Vollmar, Scogin, and Welton probably required some thought and/or effort. Those guys are some of the best of the best in their fields.
