I don't know TN laws (I practice on the West Coast), but usually that's some form of obstruction charge instead of resisting arrest. resisting arrest is generally resisting your own arrest. obstruction or interfering is attempting to thwart the arrest of another (amongst other things).

Yeah in TN they throw it all together.

SIAP. Tifwiw. I heard AJ was almost arrested for starting a riot. He gathered everybody around and performed magic tricks (including escaping his cuffs and cuffing an officer instead). They cheered and Danny O Brien grabbed a beer and gave AJ a cheers. Hence underage and the included offense for providing to a minor for Sapp, as it was Sapps back pack cooler that the beer came from. All of the other beers were inside.

I think we can safely say KPD hates magic.

I bet that homeless guy last year was some KPD plant and this has been some a setup job...we'll work out the details as we go along. :detective:

Sounds like a good time to deploy the La-z-boy punishment.

Put 3 recliners in the endzone of the practice field, each with a TV tray filled w/ Gatorade and snacks. Place a 40 gallons trash can several feet in front of the recliners.

Guys that got in trouble get the recliners. Everybody else runs. And runs. And runs. And runs some more. Trash cans will eventually be used.

Problem solves itself.

Paging Ron. Any news worth sharing?

Butch Jones dealing with off field incident: http://tennessee.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1607907 … more details from last night's incident involving two current players.https://twitter.com/Volquest_Rivals/status/432535946517827584

Senior linebacker A.J. Johnson, who Jones called on national signing day the biggest recruit he signed as Johnson opted to not go to the NFL and return for his final year, was arrested for resisting arrest according to multiple sources.

Former Vol linebacker Dontavis Sapp was also arrested and charged with resisting arrest as well as distribution of alcohol to a minor. Third year player Danny O'Brien was arrested for underage consumption and apparently had possession of a fake I.D. O'Brien will not be 21 until Oct. 13.

According to multiple sources, sometime around 2am officers were called to what is believed to be Sapp's apartment where a large party had been going on. Officers had received noise complaints. Officers instructed Sapp to turn the music down. The music was turned down, but before officers left the apartment complex, noise and commotion caused officers to return. When officers returned things at the party had escalated and the arrests were made after verbal confrontations with the officers. Details of what happened outside of the original noise issue are unclear at this time. But there was at least one other arrest made to a non-football player.

Butch made a comment that they're waiting for all the facts but are aware and it will be dealt with.

The vibe I'm getting this morning...

Again, we are waiting for more details to come out about what caused things to escalate at the party beside just the noise. But the vibe is that for those football players involved this is not a major incident or issue.

Again there were others arrested at the party not just football players. There are still alot of details to get through, but the early feeling is that this situation is a case where alcohol was the catalyst to the incident. We will see as we learn more.

What grade (A+/F) would you guys give this class? For me, I'd give it an A-. Not only does this class have quantity it is full of quality. I know we could only take so many but the only thing keeping me from grading it as an A+ is that I think we needed 1 more OL (preferably an OT, this is where losing Orlando Brown to academics hurts IMO) & I feel we needed 1 more top CB. Other than that I love this class, couldn't have asked for much better.

I love what we did at RB, WR, DL, LB, & S. With Hurd/Paulk we were set at RB but once Paulk went down we really needed another top RB, adding Scott late was huge. Especially overcoming his connections & relationships with USCjr. Being able to find a guy like Lavon Pearson & then locking him down was outstanding by our staff, great early evaluation by them. Let's also not forget the great job they did w/ landing Josh Malone.

On defense we did our best job, everyone knows we could use an influx of talent & speed there & this staff filled some of that w/ this class. 12 4* on defense in one class is a Rivals.com record & I would argue that at the very least two more of our defensive commitments should've/could've been 4* caliber (Bryant, Johnson). Speaking of Gavin Bryant, we got an absolute steal here. IMO he's the best LB we signed, he is a head hunter at MLB. The VQ guys think Gaulden is a top 100 player & top 5 instate prospect, flip on his film & it's hard to argue that.

Another thing that really impressed me is that when we did lose a commitment we essentially upgraded every time.

Lost Lauderdale, picked up #2 JUCO WR Pearson
Lost Lambert, picked up a 4* Top 250 & 4/5 year player in Sawyers
Lost Mouhon, hung onto Gavin Bryant (& btw on 247 Mouhon dropped to a 3* while Bryant is a 4*)
Lost Booth, picked up #2 WR Josh Malone
Lost Powell, picked up Derrell Scott

Now I know that some of those guys we pushed out the door to upgrade but it's still impressive.

Being realistic though one class like this can get something started but landing 3-4 of them in a row really takes a team/program to the next level. We need to sustain this & land another top 10 class in 2015. Looking ahead to 2015 this is how I see the #'s working (assuming we take 25 which I believe we def. will)

QB - 1
RB - 2
WR - 3
TE - 1
OL - 5
DL - 5
LB - 4
DB - 4

The top needs in this class are 1 top QB, 1 top RB, some stud DL (have 1 in Butcher, we need to lock down Phillips & McKenzie), 2 top CB's.

Thoughts?

While I agree, not landing a QB is not ideal with any class, the fact remains that, until someone leaves, our numbers are good there, as is competition and quality. The OL...splitting hairs there. They had the numbers until grades forced their hand, so I can't fault them.

For me, this class is a solid A and, on paper, this is the best class we've had for the better part of a decade. We signed a four star at EVERY SINGLE POSITION (I get so giddy typing that I had to put it in all caps), save QB.

Our DL haul is easily the best in a decade.
Our secondary haul...one of the best in a decade.
Our linebackers...arguably the best in a decade.
RB, WR, OL, all rival our best classes over the last ten years...

That's EVERY POSITION ON THE FIELD.

This borders perfection, by this staff, in my opinion. Especially when you consider our recent year's and their lack of success.

The crazy thing is, next year might be better...

I think we can all agree that CBJ showed glimpses of being able to coach with anyone on the field this past season. If those glimpses are just a precursor to things to come...we're back in the hunt for SEC East crowns very soon, because the Jimmy's and Joe's are on their way.

If you went to college and didn't have a run in with the cops, you did it wrong.. Jmo

We had run-ins weekly when I was at UT... As long as you didn't act like an ******* and turned the music down as requested, they generally let you go about your business. For the most part, the officers aren't there to take down a bunch of kids. They're just doing what they're being sent out to do. There are some exceptions, especially with younger officers who are a little power hungry.... But in my experience, that was the exception and not the rule.

Suspend for the first game, run them, and make them do community service. There's the answer...

This doesn't deserve a suspension.

Publicly scold, run them a little, then have the VFL Films crew follow the guys as they build a home for HFH or something.

My point is, they're not going to miss any game time.

Would prefer to see that happen too.

In any other SEC city this never happens. Any other college student in this city and this never happens. I've heard O'Brien got arrested for underage consumption?!? WTF! I'm sick of little-dicked officers starting problems. Fort Sanders erupts in gunfire because of drug deals last week, and the best thing our cops can do is arrest football players for drinking? They weren't robbing people at the pilot, they were drinking and listening to loud music as college students. Give me an effin break. The arresting officer ought to be reprimanded.

I will actually agree with you. The legitimate crime that occurs in the fort is actually pretty terrifying as a college student. I was jumped and robbed in the fort In October and they never found the guys that did it. Yet every single party I seem to attend in the Fort is busted before 1 AM. Doesn't make sense to me.
