Leo probably but I doubt you move Maggitt for an incoming freshman. As good as this class is they are still freshman and playing against upper tier SEC talent.

There had been a few discussions about him moving down before he got injured. I honestly think itll be Weatherd before Maggit moved down because thats where he played in JUCO

I don't mean it that way. There's been a thought amongst some that he would be a better fit as a rush DE and we could now afford to move him due to the talent we brought in this year.

Are there any pre-Spring tidbits come through here on the QBs? That's my #1 fear for the Fall.

What grade (A+/F) would you guys give this class? For me, I'd give it an A-. Not only does this class have quantity it is full of quality. I know we could only take so many but the only thing keeping me from grading it as an A+ is that I think we needed 1 more OL (preferably an OT, this is where losing Orlando Brown to academics hurts IMO) & I feel we needed 1 more top CB. Other than that I love this class, couldn't have asked for much better.

I love what we did at RB, WR, DL, LB, & S. With Hurd/Paulk we were set at RB but once Paulk went down we really needed another top RB, adding Scott late was huge. Especially overcoming his connections & relationships with USCjr. Being able to find a guy like Lavon Pearson & then locking him down was outstanding by our staff, great early evaluation by them. Let's also not forget the great job they did w/ landing Josh Malone.

On defense we did our best job, everyone knows we could use an influx of talent & speed there & this staff filled some of that w/ this class. 12 4* on defense in one class is a Rivals.com record & I would argue that at the very least two more of our defensive commitments should've/could've been 4* caliber (Bryant, Johnson). Speaking of Gavin Bryant, we got an absolute steal here. IMO he's the best LB we signed, he is a head hunter at MLB. The VQ guys think Gaulden is a top 100 player & top 5 instate prospect, flip on his film & it's hard to argue that.

Another thing that really impressed me is that when we did lose a commitment we essentially upgraded every time.

Lost Lauderdale, picked up #2 JUCO WR Pearson
Lost Lambert, picked up a 4* Top 250 & 4/5 year player in Sawyers
Lost Mouhon, hung onto Gavin Bryant (& btw on 247 Mouhon dropped to a 3* while Bryant is a 4*)
Lost Booth, picked up #2 WR Josh Malone
Lost Powell, picked up Derrell Scott

Now I know that some of those guys we pushed out the door to upgrade but it's still impressive.

Being realistic though one class like this can get something started but landing 3-4 of them in a row really takes a team/program to the next level. We need to sustain this & land another top 10 class in 2015. Looking ahead to 2015 this is how I see the #'s working (assuming we take 25 which I believe we def. will)

QB - 1
RB - 2
WR - 3
TE - 1
OL - 5
DL - 5
LB - 4
DB - 4

The top needs in this class are 1 top QB, 1 top RB, some stud DL (have 1 in Butcher, we need to lock down Phillips & McKenzie), 2 top CB's.

Thoughts?

In terms of meeting needs, restoring excitement in the program, setting a precedent for instate talent, and creating a national "story", it's an A+ and on par with Bama's legendary 2008 class.

I don't think RB and QB are top priorities. We need to continue to stock up the DL and OL. (And hopefully get a good QB in the process.)

Worley graduates & great chance Peterman transfers, not taking one this class means landing a top one in 2015 a top priority. Also, you can never have to many top RB's, we need to start stock piling them the way we use too & the way Alabama, LSU, & UGA do now. But I do agree that OL/DL is a huge priority again, we need to continue getting top talent along the DL. Getting Butcher early was huge, we need to lock down Kyle Phillips & Mckenzie. Would love to lock up Darrian Roseboro soon also.

I don't think RB & QB are top priorities in the sense that we need to recruit a kid who can play right now, but at QB at least the staff MUST take a QB in 2015 for depth and building toward the future goes. If Worley starts this year and Dobbs takes a RS(ideal IMO), both Riley and Dobbs still have 3 years to play.

Agreed on the QB situation. I think it's a huge need to get an elite QB this class, not to immediately play next year, but to be able to RS and potentially sit a year behind whoever wins the job this year and be ready to go after that. Would be great to grab a top RB to continue to add some depth to the talent we landed this year. The best part about this is that we are in a great position to fill some remaining needs with the start to our '15 class already.

QB, OL, CB, DL, LB, WR, RB, TE

In order of necessity, IMO.

IMO, I would swap DL and CB, as far as landing an elite talent I think DL (DT specifically) is more important. Plus I think Payne, Moseley and Berry will leave us in decent shape. The only other thing I might swap is WR and LB IMO, I still think we need some quality depth there for next season. Would love to pair Calvin Ridley with Preston.

I think we need CB more than the DL. We only have like 1 senior leaving after this season on the DL. We also lose a CB. After this season we will have like 5 or 6 corners and about 25 DLinemen.
