Your question has no reference to it. You should probably state whether it be football or basketball. Or as a coach or working in the athletic department as the A.D. But, I think you mean basketball by your rankings. I would probably put UT 5th. UK would be #1 and with the success from UF over the past decade they are becoming one of the top 5 or 10 programs in the nation. I would put Mizzou and Arky at #3 and #4 they just seem to take mens basketball more seriously than UT did historically. The UT basketball program isn't an easy program to get top recruits to come year in and year out. We have to battle a "basketball school" with Memphis instate and usually the more talented players out the state come from Memphis. Then Geography doesn't do whole lot for us either, you got Duke, UNC, UK and UL all in our backyard battling for the top players out of the south. With that being said we do have great facilities and gigantic arena to play home games in (Thank you Pat). With all of the above makes me feel like UT is the 5th best job in the SEC.

5a. UGA: The state is loaded with talent and the school could become a powerhouse if they were to put forth an honest effort
5b. TN: Best facilities of the conference in a state loaded with talent.

Does UT have better facilities than UK?

UT has had a lot of success pulling guys from Atlanta. Hopefully UGA keeps sleepwalking.

UGA isn't putting forth the effort, so I don't see how they can be above us.

I'll give her credit for a lot of things but not for the arena's size. The women seldom ever outdraw the men.

Arkansas' 6 trips to the Final Four and ONE NC is light years ahead of UT Basketball's 1 Final 8 appearance.

Certainly, UT has great facilities, but I believe Georgia, LSU, and even Alabama are in better recruiting areas. UT can hardly ever get a basketball recruit within two hours. All three of those schools usually have very good talent around them. UT has to go to Nashville and Atlanta to really recruit, where other SEC teams are. Therefore, I think you can argue they could be better jobs. Georgia just hasn't put forth the resources; LSU hired a better recruiter that probably isn't as good of a coach; and Grant is a good recruiter with bad results.

But you did say to be hired though. I would put UT behind LSU and Missouri. I don't think MSU is in the basement either.

I like how folks mention Mizzous Elite 8s and LSUs Final 4s. However thinks Arkansas with a National Championship in the modern era wouldn't have them in front of us. I would rank as follows.

1. Kentucky
2.Florida
3.Arkansas
4a.Missouri
4B.Tennessee
4C. LSU
7a.Alabama
7b.Georgia
7c.Vanderbilt
10.Mississippi St
11a.Auburn
11b.Texas A&M
13.South Carolina
14.Ole Miss

I would also guess that with the right guy, Arkansas is better positioned to pull kids out of Memphis than we are.

Thats another piece. i remember when Buzz Peterson was here he often mentioned the biggest challenge of coaching here was that the states biggest pool of talent is about 6.5 hours away. Thus making it closer to several schools than UT

He was talking facilities. I am sure UK has great practice facilities. Pratt Pavilion at UT is pretty nice.

That's what I was alluding too. I don't know much about UT's facilities, but I'm sure there really nice too.

If you base it on "true" support for the program, Arkansas is the 2nd best job in the sec.

Florida will provide all the financial support but no one will actually care. Like volunteering, people will donate money....not time.

Arkansas should be a winner in basketball in our league
