No. I can see your point on this. I don't agree, but I can see were you are coming from.

I just find it extremely funny that talking about a player's shortcomings aren't looked at as "negativity" by some when saying the coaching isn't what it should be is called being a "hater" by those questioning the players.

It's extremely hypocritical seeing as how the coaches are the one that are supposedly going to put the best 11 out there and not allow a team to give away 21 points. Bottom line, the players are put into position by these coaches. If the players aren't executing, it is the coach's job to make changes. What is lacking? You tell me

Last night he looked terrible throwing to open receivers, and I think that is why we went to that screen pass crap in order to try and get him settled down and hit some receivers. What was weird is he came out lame, started looking awesome, and then went back to being lame. In the second half our offense didn't do anything, and seriously Crompton couldn't have done any worse regardless of what you think of him. I'm sure he could hit those bum screen passes too. Ainge didn't do anything to help us win the game in the second half, but I"ll take his first half performance once he looked to have settled down some. I think his problem last night was the same as the rest of the team's, consistency.

......you can't coach nerve and he lost that after the ND injury a few years back. he is a good qb and is clearly not our problem this year, but to all the Coach Cut disciples....stick a cork in it! you got what you wished for!

I didn't give Ainge credit for anything. You said he wasn't clutch or something to that effect. There was a game-tying drive last night. Ainge was the QB. There you go. I gave you several other examples.

You will notice that I am a HUGE defender of NOT "running players down". I laughed at the "heart of a lion" thing because for all he was ....I would'nt pick thoses words.....you may actually be a TN coach because one common denominator when they speak is "We may not have the best athletes"....or "We got out-athleted today". Look coach, you guys could have swapped teams, in your three losses, for a week and played with the opposing players and still gotten your butts kicked. So....leadership # 1 State the obvious
leadership # 2 Take the heat you're due and quit blaming players...they are playing here for free and out of love for the uni and team
leadership # 2 Take chances...quit playing "not to lose"
There's a few to work on this week coach

I've said time and time again on this board that I like Phil Fulmer as a man, A LOT! Which makes this all the much harder.

Saying Ainge is the root of our problems is absolutley ridiclious.

On the other hand, claiming (like someone did in this thread) he is a 1st round draft pick is about just as ridiclious.

Just as ridiculous are those that claim that Ainge "won" this game for Tennessee just because he was behind the center. He did nothing in that game to make you say that he "won it" for us, unless you count handing the ball off to Foster so he could fumble it and have McClendon recover in field goal range... and even then, that lead us to a tying (not go ahead) fg.

Uh... the loss to Memphis was in 1996, not 1997. The Vols were #3 when they played Nebraska. The gameplan for that game included: 1) drain the fluid off of Peyton's knee, 2) shotgun every play, and 3) get rid of the ball as quickly as possible so that Manning won't get hurt. Therefore, a defense (Nebraska) that had problems ALL season defending the deep pass never was threatened because Manning never threw the ball longer than 10 yards.

I wonder if the SC defense had anything to do with that? answer......You have a good offense that ran into a pretty good defense. Give credit where credit is due and stop beating yourself up. You know I read in the paper this morning that if UT loses two of its three SEC games and SC wins its last two coupled with one UGA loss SC wins the east.....At first I thought, NO Chance that UT loses two games....but if the UT players are anything like the people in this message room......there is a great chance. Wake up....

TVA this is getting tiresome. Ainge clearly had a bad night, but he did piece together a couple of drives in the first half to give us a big lead and then held it together enough to get the 25-30 yards we needed to get in FG range at the end of regulation.

There's something to be said for being able to win when you are not at your best.

To write off Ainge so quickly after one bad game when the offense has been the only glimmer of anything more than a mediocre football team is just silly. Especially considering we don't have a receiver who can beat anyone deep, we are forced into a medium to short passing game that the defenses know we are going to use. In spite of that we have had good success with it almost all year. Our defense is abysmal and you pick one poor showing to throw Ainge under the bus. :no:
