Let's Talk About Sin

Being a good person because you fear divine punishment is infinitely less impressive than being a good person because you believe it is the right way to live.

Continue living in fear, must suck.

Go learn real theology then come back and discuss with me.

"We love Him because He first loved us."

Christians are not called to be good people out of fear, but as a response to grace.

But just in case "grace" isn't enough, don't forget about the burning in hell for eternity. Savvy?

It's cool, because even if your god is real, your hell isn't. Why else would god wait until the New Testament to bring it up? Why else would Jews not believe in hell?

I could answer all that for you. But you would just brush the answers off as a bunch of baloney or not even bother to read the answers given to you as you have not paid any attention to other posters answers given to your questions. So I want play your little game of back & forth because you're only here to argue & to mock Christianity. You're not here to find & understand the True God. Peace be unto thee & may God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on your soul.

Then you're just complaining that God did it a way you disagree with.

If you're god were to exist, I would still not follow him because I consider his decision making (primarily in terms of salvation and condemnation) to be absurd!

This has been my argument from the beginning, and was stated earlier.

Choosing not to believe in god, in other words, exercising "free will", will get you a one way ticket to Hell.

Meanwhile, murdering and raping a kid will get you to heaven as long as you say you're sorry.

Seems logical.

God can forgive anything. That doesn't make it ok to do whatever you want. Once you've been saved, you're no longer the old you in Gods eyes. Its a clean slate. If you don't even acknowledge Him and ask Him for forgiveness, then forgiveness cant be given.

Which excludes the truth statement that one must be saved by worshiping one. I am talking about truth claims.

Which lead back to the simple fact that you are trying to claim that because your religion is exclusive that it makes theirs exclusive.

That's completely irrational.

Hmmmm? So you think people should get what they deserve?

Also, what do you mean by religion of obedience? Please define.

Absolutely. It's fair. It's balanced. It rewards those who are good and punishes those who are bad.

While that may sound like Christianity or other Abrahamic religions, Christianity requires you to "accept" Jesus as your Lord and Savior. So if I lived a good life, and did good things with no ulterior motive, and looked after my fellow man with no reward, but did not accept Christ, I would still burn in hell (assuming purgatory really isn't on the table as some are claiming).

However, even if I wasn't a devout Buddhist or a practicing Hindi/Sique (sp?), I would still be a dutiful, dharmic man and would be rewarded for it, perhaps not as much as a more devout/practicing man, but rewarded nonetheless as opposed to punished for not "bowing down" to a god I don't recognize or worship.

Truth claims. Excluding truth claims. The two religions make competing truth claims, so each one is excluding the other as true.

What exclusive truth claim do Hindus make? They allow the free worship of all gods!

From what you say, I would think they are distinctive by their claim that there is many gods with different ways to heaven.

Oh yes, of course. All he has done is engage in circular logic and debate rhetoric rather than facts, and continuously display his ignorance in many matters of science.

It's funny that when I interact with you directly in debate, you shut up and run to your cage, but you are free to toss out unsupported generalities.

You are a sad, sad, sad individual.

Please use your brain. Is god fair and just? If so, how do you rationalize the fact that good people go to hell if they don't worship god, yet killers and rapists get a free pass if they "convert" in prison?

You have yet to provide any evidence that Christianity is any more legitimate than any other religion.

Shows you know nothing. Christianity is not a religion. It's a relationship that you have with God through Christ the risen Lord. You're given a chance to be reconciled back with the Creator God since the separation of sin caused by man's pride.
