Diesel's in regular vehicles sound like all the rocker arms aren't tighten to the proper specs

the big problem with them now is all the egr crap that adds complexity, saps power, and can generally go wrong without warning

Egr delete kits are easy and cheap.

I've done it on every one of mine.

they're cheap relative to the cost of the vehicle.

A coworker had a 2007 Ford F250 with the 6.7l, and an EGR delete kit was going to cost him around 3 grand. He traded it off before he had a chance to install it, but 3 grand isn't exactly chump change.

Somebody lied to you. 2007 has a 6.0 in early models and a 6.4 in later year models.

6.7 wasn't out yet. I believe 2010 is the year the 6.7's came out.


Sounds like he was going to stud it, egr kit and tune it.

No way it's 3k for a delete kit.

you're right, I think it was a 6 liter, either way, he was going to completely remove the system, which is much more expensive than just removing the egr from the ecu map.

Ftr the only Diesel engine available in the excursion are the 7.3 and the 6.0

If I buy new I get more rebates and my brother works for Ford so I can use his plan over my plan through work and save about $14k. Leaning towards Ford.

Yeah. I get the X plan myself. Averages between 12-14k for me too.

We had an odyssey also and never had any issues. 150k miles which also includes pulling a pop up camper then a 3k lb Trialmanor with no issues. Double automatic sliding doors and a back seat that folds flat to haul things makes it very versatile. But the reliability was the key. Cant go wrong with one.

I've recently looked into a Trailmanor. Do you like yours? Your Odyssey can pull it comfortably?

Its a pretty neat concept. A hard body camper with all the benefits of a pop up ie weight. We had a pop up before so going to the Trailmanor was a step up for us. There was still time that had to be allotted for set up and take down as opposed to a fully enclosed camper but not nearly as mush as the pop up.

First off I have to say that our Trailmanor was an older model so it wasn't as up to date as others are now. The Odyssey was rated for 3k lb of pulling and the Trailmanor was right at that amount. We probably should have put a cooler on the transmission but never got around to it. Gas mileage was significantly decrease but that should be expected. For about 2 yrs we took it from Nashville to Dale Hollow for the farthest but also stayed around Nashville at Priest or Old Hickory.

One thing I didn't like was the air conditioner. Sorry but camping or not I cant sleep in hot. The AC unit was a window unit that was under the cabinet in the kitchen area and blew straight against the opposite wall. Hard to get the camper cool. Ended up having to put fans in to blow the cool to the ends of the camper. I think I've seen that they have remedies for that now.

Sadly both the Odyessy and the Trailmanor were victims of the big Nashville flood. The van was totaled when the water got in to it so at that point we had nothing to pull the Trailmanor. The trailer was in the back yard and the flood ended up picking it up and moving it from the back yard to the front yard. Didn't float down the creek because it wedged against a bush. Tied it down after the water rescinded on Saturday before it rose again on Sunday. Still, we had to get rid of it with nothing to haul it. After the flood we opened it up to begin cleaning to sell. The floor had mud on it but amazingly the beds were perfectly fine. The sealing the trailer does when it closes is pretty tight.

Define barely. I can hear a diesel cluttering & don't even have to look at it to know it's a diesel. I'm talking about the engine & not the exhaust

Durango? I dont know much about Dodge other than the POS Van my Dad bought in the early 1990's..but they look pretty decent.

anybody know anything about the nissan rogue? bit smaller (and therefore cheaper) than the pathfinder which I like.

possibly looking at a 2013 one

I have one with over 110K miles and not a single problem to date and it gets good gas mileage. I have a first generation one with the Bose system and all the bells and whistles you could get in 2007. Its not bad. It has a CVT transmission which took a bit of getting used to for me at least. Its sometimes a bit jittery and slugish in the acceleration but its only 170hp 2.5L so..again mine is 1st gen 2008 model. Im sure the new ones have a redesigned interior.

I wouldnt buy another one though I need a bigger vehicle and I want something with a more power stock sound system, USB.microSD slots, ventilated seats, a v8 and a dimming outside driver mirror. To be honest I've never liked the way it looked. When I went to buy it I was actually looking for a Pathfinder. But gas prices had skyrocketed and the Nissan dealer hid the Pathfinders in the back lot. They pushed me towards the smaller ones.

Again, its not bad for a family with small kids..but squeezing 5 adults into is a pain. And the stupid oval design made it impossible for me to get a friggin 40" tv into the back.
