Major fail by Amazon

It happens, especially during busy times. I've never had an issue with Amazon personally, but I've never cut it so close either. Of course, ordering it on a Saturday, and expecting it on Christmas Eve, is really pushing it.

I disagree it was "pushing it." I built in an extra day for an error, that is not "pushing it" in this industry.

Why is everyone blaming the OP for expecting the service promised by a retail giant like Amazon? I've had problems getting my kids' textbooks delivered by the time they needed them, as well.

Agreed. I was quite amazed at the first few responses.

Gasp, I expected a company to fulfill what they claimed they would do.

Bummer to hear that stuff isn't turning up on time. I really like amazon. I ordered stuff at the last minute and it got there on time.

Then that further proves your stupidity, boy.

Was raised by my mom and moved at 18, made it on my own since then.

Seriously? You called me boy? You are one of the most unintentionally funny posters on here. Thanks for all your laughs to this site, MAN. (Sir? Mr?)

What the hell does this even mean?

It means their responses to the issue were quite ridiculous and it is probably because they have never actually been responsible for managing or executing anything, in a business.

Their responses were from a labor oriented view. No one managing this activity from Amazon's side would agree with them. The guy running the scan gun would.

I think they were saying that you shouldn't order a couple days before Christmas & not have any realistic doubt your order could be late. It's a crapshoot & you lost.

I highly doubt Amazon views their supply chain or their service offerings as a "crapshoot."

Once again, the complaint was not merely that it did not arrive on time.

I think, in this case, it's a an issue w/ the Amazon vendor. I'm a seller on Amazon and I know damn well I have to ship in a timely manner. So either way, whether it was Amazon or the vendor, it should have gone out in a timely manner. If a seller can't provide service, their seller rating should, and probably will, take a hit.

I agree with op, if I order a cheeseburger from a place that makes cheeseburgers, I expect it to arrive promptly!

I bought everything online. Not going to the stores for Christmas.

Do you have agorophobia or demophobia?

FWIW, I buy as much as I can local to keep my money local.

And I shipped gifts to Ohio via USPS and they arrived on time. Speaking of which, I need to hop on my bike and head to the PO to drop off a shipment for work.

No phobia. I find no enjoyment in going to a store during the Christmas season and see no need to in order to get the things I want.

I know what you mean.

I set up the Amazon account for a previous manufacturer I worked for. That company is a pain in the a$$ if you miss acknowledging received orders in a timely manner or shipping on time.

Amazon is one of the few companies that have yet to let me down.

Seeing as FedEx and UPS also experienced xmas issues, your options are kinda slim for better service.

I think all the parcel services got overwhelmed this year. I was returning an item and shipped it from Tennessee. It was going to Ontario, California. It landed in a town in Calif about six days later, then wound up in Massachusetts a week after that. Took the scenic route I guess.
BTW, it was USPS.
