Anyone else experience terrible service by Amazon at the end of the holidays?

I ordered a major item on Saturday 12/21 for Monday delivery, before Christmas. As of today the item has still failed to track.

On 12/26 they told me to reorder it, so I did, again with overnight delivery....so it should deliver today. I see this morning it has not even shipped and they are giving me a delivery date of 12/31.

I'm rather shocked at how poorly they have performed. Thought they were a better run company than this. They might want to get normal shipping down to a science before they start messing with drones.

4 days before Christmas is only last minute if horse drawn buggies are still the main method of goods movement in society.

Oh, I see you are in Arkanasa, that is last minute for an idiot like you.

I ordered a bunch of stuff on Friday, everything but one coat and a computer mouse arrived on Monday. The other two made it by thursday and we were pretty satisfied over all.

This has been on the national news. Apparently several major retailers have had similar problems.

I've read where UPS and Fedex had some major problems as well shipping things in time for Christmas.

Seems like the big increase in online shopping "hurt" some companies service

Yea, blame the buyer because the company fails at what they claimed they do. Are you really this dense? Guessing you are a disgruntled Wal Mart truck driver.

But yea, 6 days after an item has been purchased it still isn't showing tracking. You do realize this is what their company sells right? Service.

Also, we are past Christmas, so your panty rant doesn't work on that one either.

I didn't buy a damn thing online this year and I had everything on time. Go figure, right?

This is what I don't get. You've known Christmas was coming for 364 days, if you wait til day 360 to order, all bets are off.

Yeah, you're fault for waiting til the last minute.

I'd like to see you figure out the logistics for delivering millions of packages to people like you who wait until the last minute. I bet the percentage of people who had issues is really low but we hear about them because they waited til the last minute but still expect perfect service.

When buying online, you should always take into account some type of delay. That's why you shouldn't buy online at the last minute, especially around the holidays.

You realize they do this for profit right? It is essentially the core idea of their business.

And I did take the time into account which I why chose overnight, not 2 day(which was still an option for arriving prior to Christmas).

Also, this was not a kids Christmas present, it didn't ruin someone's Christmas. One of the main points is that 6 days after the initial purchase, that item still doesn't even show shipped. That is failure given what it is they do.

This has been all over the news. Amazon, and some other retailers such as Kohl's, are pointing the finger at UPS. They are claiming the orders were processed in their facilities and the delays occurred after being handed off to UPS/Fed Ex.

Amazon is offering some Gift Cards amd such if you file a claim.

FTR I ordered 75% of gifts from Amazon and another 20% off eBay. Everything arrived by Thursday last week.

No matter when an order is placed, if a company promises to deliver them they should be able to honor that. I would bet this is more a failure of the companies shipping as Amazon than packages coming directly from their distribution centers. Either way shipping should be refunded

Yea I know, was just seeing if anyone on here had experienced similar issues.

I worked for RPS Ground (now FedEx Ground) in college so I know this business. My guess is that my initial shipment was loaded on a preloaded FedEx trailer at an Amazon location and the trailer ended up sitting there and was never picked up due to the backlog by UPS FedEx. But I second guess that opinion now that it has been 6 days. The shipment was created on the amazon end but no tracking ever by FedEx which means it never made it to the FedEx location. I find it hard to believe they are that backed up, that the trailer hasn't even made it off the Amazon property yet.

I had the opposite experience with amazon. I had two orders delivered on the same day, 1 by UPS and the other by UPS Sure Post (ups hands off to USPS for final delivery). Got home to find the latter was missing. UPS said they couldn't help because they gave it to PO. I couldn't get a PO rep on the phone so I contacted amazon. By the next morning I had a reply saying they were shipping me another one ($15 laptop case) by overnight delivery. Asked me to send one back (prepaid) if both happened to arrive. It cost them more in shipping than the actual product when all was said and done.

That's pretty good customer service in my book.

I am an Amazon Prime member and generally agree with you. I love their service and do a ton of my shopping with them.

Guess that is why I am so surprised by all of this. The comedy of errors goes deeper than what I've written.

I thought this whole national "crisis" was rather petty, until I saw that some yokel Senator in CT is "advising" a successful corporation on how they should handle this situation, while his own organization is losing money at a rate never before seen in the history of the earth.

It's still petty...but he's a moron.

Sounds like your experience was an aberration, I've been dealing with Amazon since it was just books, and have never had any issues

I'm also a Prime member. I did make a point to let then know how much I detest the "sure post" arrangement. If I wanted to take a chance with the USPS I would have ordered a month ahead.

Saw an interview with a UPS exec from just before Thanksgiving who said, because of their increased productivity, that they wouldn't be increasing seasonal staffing over last year. Oops.

It happens, especially during busy times. I've never had an issue with Amazon personally, but I've never cut it so close either. Of course, ordering it on a Saturday, and expecting it on Christmas Eve, is really pushing it.
