'14 JUCO WR Lavon Pearson (UT SIGNEE 12/18/13)

Just watched Pearsons highlights. We will have 3 legit future NFL receivers again. He is the real deal and if he wants to get drafted he has to start goin off ASAP and I'm betting he does. North, Pearson, Malone, Helm, Hurd and Lane = Weapons Upgrade. I don't know which QB will emerge but be is gona be very happy with this arsenal.

haha wasn't calling you out man

just thought it was funny since that does come up here quite a bit, esp on local sports radio in regards to U of M basketball players

i think it's ridiculous, but some people around here go ballistic if someone says a black athlete is "well spoken"

"Whenever Colin Powell is on the news, white people give him the same compliments: 'How do you feel about Colin Powell?', 'He speaks so well! He's so well spoken. I mean he really speaks so well!' Like that's a compliment. 'He speaks so well' is not a compliment, okay? 'He speaks so well' is some **** you say about retarded people that can talk. What do you mean he speaks so well? He's a ****ing educated man! How the **** did you expect him to sound, you dirty mother****er? 'He speaks so well.' What are you talking about? What voice were you expecting to come out of his mouth? 'Imma drop me a bomb today', 'I be Pwez o dent!'."

good deal , young is ok for a punt returner but we need an upgrade at KR

I would also say that Vic will have his fair shot at KR and PR

I will take Vic's speed at either return position...I think he is a definite upgrade at both. I thought I had clicked on his thread so I was actually referring to him in my OP.

Jeez. I had seen a few clips of him making outstanding catches, and I had heard the reports about his hands and body control. From this, I thought that we were getting a polished possession receiver. Then I watched his Hudl highlights, and this kid has a lot of shake as well. Total package.

THIS is what will make him the ideal SLOT receiver in our offense. Speed, quickness, and size = mismatches against EVERY safety we play. :salute:

It might be hard for North to have two more great years, Malone to have three, and Von to have one, since that would require that all three have "great" years next year. I think that anybody could put up decent yardage with those three, but do we have QB on the roster now who could, at present, help all three have great years?

Ask the question again after spring practice and we'll have a better idea. Right now, we don't know what we have.

I thought Pearson might get a shot at it first since he is farther along in his development , him being JUCO and all

Pearson has little experience as a return guy, especially compared to someone like Wharton. He only had 4 kick returns in 2 years at Feather River and I don't think he did much there in high school.

Probably a big difference in the speed Pearson is seeing in Juco versus high school speed. IDK that either necesarily translates better than the other. Either way I feel we're going to see a drastic difference in speed at all positions in a few years.

Bottom line, if CBJ holds this class there will be a LOT more competition at every position.

Still, I thought D. Young was a bright spot.

DV did a very nice job.

We finished in the upper half of PR and KR in the SEC and would have been higher except when he was out we were very poor in that area.

He won't be easy to beat out for those jobs IMO

I won't be surprised if it is Vic on PR and Devron on KR.

I haven't had any real issues with Young as a return guy. Maybe it's because I remember the not to long ago days where we were just begging for someone who would catch a punt....

Well my thinking with Devrin is that he's quick but he lacks that top end speed a KR needs . Quickness is good for a PR though so I have no problem with him there .
