The Runner's thread

Started at 5:45 this morning. Hit the top of the mountain right before sunrise. City lights to my left and mountain peaks to my right. Listened to the first wake up. And I learned deer eyes glow green like demons in the night. Great run.

Total - 115.5 miles

Yesterday was a beautiful evening for a run. Somehow I had missed an overlook on the trail behind my house. It gives a perfect view of the airport and planes swing right in front of you to land. It's really cool.

119.5 total

Went for a walk/jog this morning before breakfast. It was terrible. I had no gas in the tank(no food) and my muscles and joints didn't feel as good as they do in the late afternoon/evening.

Gonna try and give it another go here in a bit.

New 5k PR! 25:34. That was faster than what I have set on an indoor track. Very pleased.

I've earned my beer and egg nog!

It was also my first real go with runkeeper. I'm mixed. It was a pain in the ass to set it up to track my 5k and I nearly thought I lost my time since I told it to give me a 5 minute cool down. I think I know how to set it up now though. On the plus side, it runs better than nike+ running.

So you can't use RunKeeper indoors? That sucks, with Nike you can use the accelerometer to track your indoor running.

Good work

Discussed already I'm sure. But on my phone and am tired of searching....

What shoes do you guys recommend?

I have been running/working out in busted old New Balance and a very low quality Starter pairs due to hate going shopping. Now it's obvious that my feet need better. TIA.

Go to a running specialty store and have them fit you specifically. Highest end, you're looking at about $120. I prefer the Brooks PureCadence, but everyone is different. Get fitted and see what fits you best.

I'm getting ready to the try the Five Fingers. We'll see how it goes.

2 miles in 17'25 this evening.

Felt really good so I ran farther than usual. 10k in 54:56, on a really hilly bit of road. Went on for a total of 8.5 miles.

I got some really nice running clothes and a new pair of headphones. They were great.

Best thing ever for a runner. Start slow with 10-15 minute runs and gradually increase. Your calves will hate you.

Got some Brooks trail running shoes for Christmas. Pretty excited about them. Been wanting some for a while just haven't ever pulled the trigger. I gotta exchange sizes but I hope I can get that done quickly. I'll post pictures later.
