Official Global Warming thread (merged)

What scientific experiment do you propose that will "prove" whether or not pollution is altering the global climate?

exactly my point, and it's not one you want to admit to

you take it on faith that man is causing climate change despite there not being any evidence that it is occurring

The point is you apparently have a standard of proof which is impossible to meet. If I'm wrong, tell me what would convince you otherwise.

Meanwhile,

November temps set new global high, NOAA says - CNN.com

if you believe the science is settled, explain the expanding ice caps and the cooling trend over the last decade +, neither of which were predicted by IPCC modeling, in fact, the IPCC claims were quite the contrary.

and while you're at it, explain the causes of the Medieval Warming Period and the Little Ice Age.

if you really want to impress, see if you can figure out what is causing warming on other planets not named "Earth"

The man-made global warming fanatics of today are the equivalent of the 18th century witch hunters.

So you do know that it's not a myth about the carbon emissions we humans have created and influx of since the industrial revolution? You do realize the influx of carbon does correlate directly to the weather making for more extreme temperatures. This is fact. At this rate, we are screwed. but hey, whatever.. I'll be gone, and it's not worth it to argue with people like you.

Tell us about the dinosaurs grandpa.

Or the "we're heading into another ice age" people of the 70's.

I do believe pollution is bad, but people need to calm the ***** down. I equate the quack scientists to the witch burners of Salem. Some people are eager to be/feel guilty about something.

It seems like many of you guy's reasonings for why global warming isn't man made is that the earth has warmed before the existence of humans. While that is true, I don't think it is accurate to use that logic on arguing that man can not possibly contribute to global warming.

Stick to Shiite you know something about which is limited at best.

I don't doubt we are having an impact on global climate change (I refuse to call it warming). But the level of that impact is what I think is constantly overstated. And furthermore, the same could be said about the proponents of the "humans are the evil that's causing the climate to collapse" crowd. They ultimately will ignore the facts that climate change has happened throughout the history of the world regardless of how many humans were on the planet. And the fact the planet somehow tends to correct the climate change by itself without our interference.

I do believe there are things people could and possibly should be doing to help, such as recycling, but the fact the EPA uses these "studies" to overreach in their powers is something I don't like.

Comes down to the simple fact that we aren't helping much by having 7 billion humans on the planet. But again, we aren't hurting as bad as many of the "scientists" claim.

We will soon reach are carrying capacity in population which will result on mass devastation. Mainly for third world countries. I do agree that is a major global issue that appears to be inevitable. But regardless of whether global warming is an issue, our natural resources will run out eventually. While I'm not sure it will happen in our lifetime, we have to realize that the world our children's children live in will be devastating unless we can think of more efficient alternatives.

There are more efficient alternatives...

It's called the space program that gets cut time and time again. Our manned space exploration programs have been stagnant since the early 70s while we could have had a moon base, a manned trip to Mars and been harvesting materials from the solar system by now.

You want to relieve global crowding? Get the people off the planet.

The Illuminati have another plan .

This is my take. I'm much less concerned about rising sea levels and other projected consequences than I am about what will happen when the price of oil doubles (again). That won't be pretty.

In the 60's and 70's it was global cooling. When that didn't pan out they flipped to global warming. You can scare a lot more people with rising sea levels than you can with advancing glaciers I guess.
