'14 CA CB Adoree' Jackson (Signed with USC)

Counting stars can be a danger to your program.

I wasn't? I was chiming in on a previous question. I'm a firm believer that, with the right coaching, any class in the top 10-15 can potentially be the retrospective number 1 class. I think back in miami's nasty run in the late 90s/early 00s, they had a number 15ish class that was retroactively called the best class of that cycle (the Ken Dorsey class, I think).

The fact that we even in consideration for Adoree' says enough... Coming of a 5-7 season, along with him having 0 ties to UT and being from Cali, Butch has 0 business having a legit shot at signing the best corner in this class... Adoree' is a program changer and i believe Butch seals the deal.... But if not, you still have to respect the situation

Have you seen their highlights? I'm not sure they are a danger to UT, but more likely a danger to Bammer, Florida, and UGA.

There are plenty of 4-stars guys I would rather at CB. Of course, this is my personal opinion, but one I have been pretty consistent on. The "highlights" are what concern me, as a PR or WR, less concerned.

I was referring to UT's class as a whole. LSU should know the value of an elite football player. He isn't a prototypical CB, but he is the type of talent that can change a game ala The Honeybadger.

Oh no, I think he is a talented guy, I would hope LSu would take the commit, if he came, but I would not replace any of our current DBs for him. But in the end, I don't look at stars, I can see him making an impact just not at CB, of course, I could be completely wrong... it's just an opinion.

At CB I would take Russell Gage over him and he is a 3-star, of course, Jackson has other abilities that can't be ignored.

Do any of our resident Volnation DB gurus share this opinion? I had always been led to believe from the hype on AJ, that he is a "can't miss" program changing type of CB. I am confused now. All I have ever heard is how awesome at corner this guy is.

He is great at corner, fans of other teams are trying to downplay his talents for when we get him.

If we got Adoree to go along with Cam, I don't think the other team would be able to complete a pass

I am not sure you realize how big some of these receivers are, even at the college level. If you are under 6 foot, you better be able to bring some wood. What are you talking there a 7-9 inch height advantage versus Michael Evans, plus arm length.... plus about 60 lbs. The days of small corners are slowly disappearing.

Out of all the film I've watched of Jackson, I haven't been able to come away with anything else besides the fact that he is a programs changing DB. In regards to this recruiting class alone, I'd take him over Peppers and Humphrey because I think when it's all said and done he will have a greater impact. I'm not a football coach though. Just a casual fan.

He is a good great athlete, that doesn't mean he has a true every down type position. Heck, it might be okay for him at CB, but he better have a ton of INTs because imagine him out on a 6'4 230lb receiver on an island.

There is a real reason why schools are offering on the other side of the ball.

Haha I was just kidding man, I realize how big the receivers are :hi:

Well, it's just an opinion, it doesn't make my opinion right... yours is just as valid, coach or no coach.

I don't think will ever see the field at DB if he selected LSU. You have to able to handle a man one on one and that means tackling and fighting off.

There is a reason LSU is recruiting well over 6 foot DBs like Rashard Robinson at 6'4+ .... guys like this.

So LSU thinks Jackson is too small and not good enough to see the field as a CB? This all sounds good to me. We'll let him play CB in Knoxville then. Come on down, AJ!

With the proliferation of the spread a guy can be just as big a game changer at NB. The same holds true for all those 6ft+ guys trying to chase little quick slot guys around.

OK. Where to start?

#1 rated CB by Rivals.

Same height as Darrelle Revis with comparable to better speed and much better ball skills. Will gain strength in the S&C program.

Really good CB's break on the ball as much as they make a play on the receiver. They rarely square up and tackle a guy head up. The position relies on reaction, quickness, aggressiveness and vertical jumping abilities. Check.

Bonus - excellent returner and receiver.

Whoever gets this guy gets a stud.

I am no DB guru for sure, but I watch quite a few highlight tapes and there are certain guys whose athleticism just jump off the screen to you. Von Bell was one of those guys for me. Adoree is one of those guys too. I don't care how tall, short, skinny, strong, weak, smart or dumb he is. His skills look explosive to me. Gonna make an impact at some point. Maybe not as a freshman. But he's gonna make noise for somebody if he commits and stays in school. I hope he's a Vol.

We all got opinions. That's part of what makes talking about these things on volnation fun. Anyway, I'm basing a lot of my opinion on Dooley's failures in regards to DB's. He was all about his tall corners but the problem was they were slow. You don't have to be an expert to see how bad that hurt our defense. I think Jackson and even Payne will be able to come in do wonders for our defense. I see them as playmakers. Somebody mentioned the "honey badger." That guy made plays all over the field. He's what like 5'9?

WoW... CAN'T BELIEVE anyone would think Jackson can't play CB or where ever he wants LOL :loco::loco:
