Evidently. I knew once we lost to Vandy I was going to have to spend the next ~250 days until the start of the 2014 season sifting through garbage posts on VN about how this or that coach was to blame for us missing a bowl game and should be fired.

We'll learn over time whether these guys can coach, but our season could have been much worse and this program needs stability as much as anything right now. I'd love it if they all stayed another year or two. I think it would benefit us in a lot of ways.

I never said we needed to fire anybody. I just said we should look into reassigning the QB coach position. I'm not sure what the rules are on the number of coaches on staff and where we stand within those rules but if we did had another spot available we should look into hiring someone to specifically coach QBs.
Trust me I'm huge on keeping this staff intact for as long as possible as we've all seen what constant coaching changes does to players development and our program.

Two games prevented the opportunity for another national title- Arkansas in 99 and LSU in 2001. I have no doubt that we could have beaten Miami in the Rose Bowl in 2001.

I graduated in the summer of 2002. Our 2001 team was as good as any we ever had, I think.

Please don't jump on me for what may be a stupid question (not very crootin' savvy) but.... I see mentions on Twitter and places saying Butch must recruit a quarterback for this class. So do we need a quarterback this class and why or why not?

Absolutely. They would do well to go back and watch UT games from ten or more years ago. Team 117 had next to no talent in comparison. If I had to guess, I'd say only about ten or fifteen guys saw the field this year that would have gotten playing time on Tennessee teams from yesteryear. Toney, Blanc, Swafford, etc wouldn't have even been on the scout team. (I have nothing against those guys, they seem to give their all. But players of their caliber will not get us to where we need to be).

I think your being generous.

I believe in getting one every class. But I think in this case....I'm just gonna have to trust that they know what they are doing. This Riley kid must be pretty good.

And no it's not a dumb question.

Yep. The Sugar Vols were completely impressive to go back and watch. We sacked Testaverde a ton. The announcers were stunned that we shut Miami down, and concluded in the end that we were far and away the fastest defense Miami had played.

Those teams were awesome.

I believe Jimmy Johnson agrees with this statement. :good!:

Sorry misread your post. I think they can only add GAs and I believe they have a few focused on QBs. CMB is the guy and given he's been with CBJ for such a long time, I don't see him going anywhere soon.

Butch's modus operandi is a QB for each class...it's not a MUST and after giving it due diligence we're filling up on needs in his first full TN class...expect two that fill his prototype in 15 and he's already CRUTIN the Cali kids in that class

Latest buzz is Mark Mangino to Florida as the new OC. I don't like this.

If so, Florida would be gaining a great offensive mind. He has worked with various NFL teams as an offensive guru since being fired by Kansas.

I kinda took it the way Bruin did, that he just simply did 25x4 to get 100.

Hell, I don't know.

I'm just glad we're raising some hell on the recruiting trail.

You're probably right and I think it's the same thing.

But what if it's not? What if you only have to *average* 25 players a year for 4 years? What if we took 40 this year, 15 the next, then 20, then 25? It would still *average* 25 a year for that 4 year period.

Biggest dude you ever saw on the sideline. Had all kind of jokes about his size when he was at KU. Best one:
Mangino went in a store in KC and asked the clerk "Do you know how I can get to 435?" Clerk: Have you tried the Atkins diet?
Also, they had shirts that said Our coach can eat your coach.

So many he had to become TE/Asst Coach at Youngstown this year?

I graduated then as well. Was in the dome when we choked away the opportunity. That team was loaded and fun to watch. 2001 UF game was fun to watch on campus.

So you guys realize that if Jaimes doesn't play then tOSU is gona back into a crystal ball and I'm gona have to shoot a bama fan.
