It's a nice change to have 90% of our class in place.

Nice to have impact players all over this class. I don't know how well they can coach yet but Butch is certainly recruiting at a level to be back on top. He's getting players that will save your job. It's similar to Dabo Swinney at Clemson. And Les Miles at LSU. You motivate good to elite talent and they'll win for you. And they'll win big for you. Talent on a base defense can take over games with athleticism. Good RBs will make plays when there isn't one. Just like good WRs will bail out QBs on poorly thrown balls(Marquez North all year long). It's all about getting good elite ball players and allowing them to make plays.

Well fellas we lived through the last six seasons somehow and with no guarantees on next year, I believe it's over. It will definitely be exciting watching this team grow up together. I kinda felt this way Brays freshman year when he came in and threw 2 touchdowns against USCe and then went 4-0 to end the year. I mean at the time none of us believed UT would stay down for more than a year or two. But it's for real this time. We may not win a Natty (blasphemy) but we will be back to the top of the SEC sooner rather than later where we belong. Can you imagine the love this group is gona receive as win hungry as we are? Good times my friends.

David Scott @ESPNprDScott

Ron Burgundy's scheduled Thurs. appearance on @SportsCenter has been cancelled in light of the potential implications of any news from the State Attorney's press conference in Fla.

Great. That’s just great. I wanted to see that.

No no no. If Clay is correct about that rule then that's HUGE.

It means there isn't an over-signing rule as long as we under-sign in upcoming classes.

(unless I'm misunderstanding.)

I kinda took it the way Bruin did, that he just simply did 25x4 to get 100.

Hell, I don't know.

I'm just glad we're raising some hell on the recruiting trail.

Well now that we are getting SEC worthy talent we need to go hire an actual QB coach. CMB is clearly not the guy we need coaching any of our QBs. Im not even sure how good of an OC he is but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for this past season on that. But it was clear from watching Dobbs slowly regress each game that whatever he's doing as a QB coach is taking these kids from their comfort, talent and instncts and forcing them to think too much.
We need a coach that can not only coach them into SEC and possible NFL level QBs, but do it without stripping away everything that made them SEC worthy QBs and turning them into overthinking, slow processing robots like CMB seemed to do this year.

If this class is the one that gets this program back to winning big they will be remembered as legends.

Again, I don't think we can make a ton of judgments about anybody on the staff from this year. Too little talent and depth, too tough of a schedule. CMB has a decent track record with QBs, so we will see what happens going forward. I'm excited to see what Fergie can do in particular.

At this point, I don't really care how the numbers work out.

Butch and staff seem to have the recruiting thing down. I hate to lose anybody from this class but if we can only sign 30, then I know we will get 30 damn good football players. Anything beyond 30 is just free goodness as far as I am concerned.

Definitely agree. I was super excited heading into 2011 and 2012 because of the potential Bray and our offense had. Had no idea we'd do so poorly, but it seems to have been for the best. CBJ is the coach we've been needing to get the talent level back to where it needs to be.

If they hire a QB coach somebody has to go on the staff. Is that really what some of you want? Isn't that what the problem was with Dools - having a QB coach separate from the OC - which meant a GA coaching RB's? How did that work out? lol.

Anyone questioning these dudes now....well I'm not even gonna waste my time. Butch could slap my momma and I'd ask her what she did.

What's fun about this class is that the talent level going forward will finally feel like the Tennessee we all grew up with.

Last summer, I spent some time watching back through some classic UT games, including the Sugar Bowl against Miami, the 1997 UGA game with Jamal Lewis, the 1998 National Title game, and the 2006 Cal game, among others. In almost every game, there was some stretch of time where the announcers would marvel at the speed and athleticism of Tennessee, particularly our defense. We'd also have injuries, and the next guy in looked better than the guy that went down. Needless to say, it's been a while since we could say those things about Tennessee. Looks like that will no longer be the case.

Yep, def remember those days. Teams could not run outside the tackle against us.

I tell you what, Majors could recruit too. Go back and watch some of those Majors teams....NFL dudes everywhere. Between he and Fulmer it's hard to believe its gotten to where it's been the past few years. It is truly great to see things trending in the right direction finally.

Evidently. I knew once we lost to Vandy I was going to have to spend the next ~250 days until the start of the 2014 season sifting through garbage posts on VN about how this or that coach was to blame for us missing a bowl game and should be fired.

We'll learn over time whether these guys can coach, but our season could have been much worse and this program needs stability as much as anything right now. I'd love it if they all stayed another year or two. I think it would benefit us in a lot of ways.

The announcer also says that in the stumbled and fumbled game vs Arkansas in 1998.

He was in awe of our depth at being able to come back from the loss of Jamal Lewis with guys like Travis Henry and Travis Stephens.

The younger guys might not realize it, but we had Bama level talent back then. It's sort of amazing that we didn't win more than just one natty.

Yep. The Sugar Vols were completely impressive to go back and watch. We sacked Testaverde a ton. The announcers were stunned that we shut Miami down, and concluded in the end that we were far and away the fastest defense Miami had played.

Those teams were awesome.

Like Fred White said today....North wouldn't have gotten on the field with our national championship team and yet he was our biggest playmaker on O this year. People that are already ripping Jones need to realize that.

Good point, I wonder how CZA would do coaching QBs. It might help the chemistry between the QBs and WRs being coached by the same guy, but that would all depend on if CZA had any idea on how to coach QBs. I think he would considering he works with WRs but how much better would he be, if any, than CMB.

Two games prevented the opportunity for another national title- Arkansas in 99 and LSU in 2001. I have no doubt that we could have beaten Miami in the Rose Bowl in 2001.

Absolutely. They would do well to go back and watch UT games from ten or more years ago. Team 117 had next to no talent in comparison. If I had to guess, I'd say only about ten or fifteen guys saw the field this year that would have gotten playing time on Tennessee teams from yesteryear. Toney, Blanc, Swafford, etc wouldn't have even been on the scout team. (I have nothing against those guys, they seem to give their all. But players of their caliber will not get us to where we need to be).
