Texas was so full of itself in recent years. They thought that the country wanted to see Texas as the national brand.

Check out these numbers and tell me that the SEC has not made a difference in A&M's fortunes.

So much for the LHN being a great way to increase viewership for Texas.

At least it's not like the FF yet. People wanting to know if we go after Wilcox or Orgeron now that they might be available. smdh. Some people don't get it

The problem is people that are *****ing about a disappointing season are trying to hold Butch accountable for the prior 4 as well. Anytime someone says "I have been watching this for 4 years, and this is unacceptable" fails to realize that Butch Jones has been our coach for 1 year. I understand the frustration, but Dooley's failures do not fall on the current regime. They all deserve to be treated individually. Frustration has snowballed. If this was the first year after Kiffin, people would be ok and very excited about recruiting.

I won't get into a long discussion about this, but this is what I have observed. UT fans are starving for success that their emotion is clouding their judgments about this staff. JMO.

Why e'ry1 so mad tho 2day!?

Everyone on here should be ecstatic over the future of this team. This year was hard, next year will be too but I anticipate seeing flashes of brilliance (marred by tragedy) and we will go bowling.

In 2015 we will be back competing for a division title and by 2016 should be contending for a spot in the playoffs (sounds weird to say).

If you all can't stay positive, at least stay excited because our young team will be fun to watch next year.

Good post. I also hold the LHN responsible partly for the demise of what was the Big 12. Nebraska, A&M, Mizzou, and Colorado said eff that and bailed. In turn them leaving ended the Ok/Nebraska series, A&M/Texas, and Mizzou/Kansas. Texas, a bunch of self righteous pricks imo.

Can't speak for everybody but, I'll grant you this, the past six years has worn on me and my tolerance is all but exhausted. The VU game irritated me more than any other loss in recent memory and I vented my thoughts on here, like I said, it's cathartic.

That being said, I am holding Jones to a higher standard but only because I expect more from him this year, and beyond. That's an endorsement more than an indictment.

That doesn't mean I'm holding him accountable for Dooley's tenure, I simply expected at least one more win than the last three. It didn't happen, I'm ready to move on.

Recruiting is the name of the game right now and we have a VERY big day tomorrow. Here's hoping Butch reels in another elite prospect.

Good response. Fair enough. I think you can hold Butch in higher regard as well because we know he outworks people off the field. We know he can do it.

It has been a frustrating 6 years for all of us. I am 33 and never saw true failure until 2005. Then, 2008, semi-2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013. It sucks. But, if you realize that our current staff had nothing to do with losing 7 games last year or the year before, then you let them get their chance at turning it around. The last 6 years of failure has caused Butch Jones to get some unfair criticism after one year. Step back, let's all take a deep breath, and enjoy this offseason. And I will tell you this- when that day comes again (and it will come)whent we beat UF or beat another Top 10 team and go to a bowl, we will enjoy it that much more after these failures.

Just not having to look at Dooley anymore gives me hope. Not beating out UCF and Buffalo for recruits gives me hope. I could continue, but I don't think I need to.

Probably because they don't want to be killed one day by a Bama fan upset with them having fumbled the ball or missed a tackle in a key moment of a game.

2005 Candy game irritated me more than any other. We were an 11 point favorite and lost. That broke the 22 game streak. 2008 Wyoming homecoming is next.

Here is my 2 cents on this season and the coaching staff:

1. I thought at the beginning of the year that this was a 7-5 team (wins over AP, WKU, USA, Mizzou, AU, Vandy, and UK. Losses over Oregon, Florida, UGA, USCe, and UA), with a possible 8-4 season if we beat UGA or USCe. This was all under the assumption that we had a decent roster and that Mizzou and Auburn was similar to how they were last year. After watching this season, I know now that we aren't as talented as I thought we were, and that I greatly underestimated Auburn and Mizzou.

2. I'm as disappointed as everyone else here that we didn't make a bowl this year. However, I'm not going to put all of the blame this season on Butch. Were there times that him and his staff made questionable calls? Sure. There were also times that his coaching staff made great calls and good adjustments (which to be honest, I rarely ever saw that from Dooley and his staff). He also doesn't have the pieces to effectively run his system. Recruiting will be crucial to rebuilding this program. It will take a few great recruiting classes to make Tennessee elite again, but Butch is off to a great start.
