Overcome? He's a contributor to it at this point.

Hate to say it but why Butch continues to play him baffles me.

I liked your comment, but I can tell you exactly why Smith continues to play. It's because he is excellent at getting separation on his routes. Hence, why he keeps getting the ball, and subsequently dropping it.

If anything, it's better that he has gotten the ball, because it's led us to discover that he has an issue with drops that can hopefully be fixed. He's a fine receiver other than that, as can be easily seen on the tape of his HS senior year.

:eek:lol:

NashVOL on Joshua Dobbs: "He cannot complete a pass. He's a fine QB other than that."

Oh, don't be dramatic. If you don't know good and well that there's a lot of things that have to happen before the ball ever gets to a receiver's hands, I can't help you. Watch some more football.

Clemson is the one I didnt want in this battle. D.Watson and D.Kitt in his ear scares me a little. We must show out against UK

He said who would be throwing to him o's very important to him. We have the worst QB situation of his 4 finalists. I'm not holding out hope on this one.

That is false.

Riley or Josh will be throwing to Josh M for those 3 years.

Two Elite 11 QB's a year older then him.

Boyd's about to graduate, Murray is about to graduate, and Famous Jameis is staring down the barrel of some very ugly and very public rape charges. Where else is he gonna go?

I think Auburn and Mizzou both demonstrated that sometimes a team that looks bad one year, can actually be on the cusp of something special. Both were at the bottom of the SEC food chain last year, and now at the top of it.

I'm still onboard with CBJ, but I'm not real convinced about our OC and DC...nor Azzani. I've harped ALL season long that we should have tried to play the one good hand we have, on offense. Massive size (3 WR's at 6'4"+)...and all 4* talent. North, Croom and Harris should have been starting whenever we went 4-5 wide.

It's the coaches job to get them ready and to get them involved. Instead we are throwing to midgets and some average-sized white kid with bricks for hands. :loco:

Here in a few weeks, I hope CBJ lets at least Bajakian and Azzani go, and brings in Baylor's OC + WR Coach. That would send a loud signal to Malone and others that we ain't taking prisoners no mo,' on offense.

Some of you guys just don't learn, do you. SMH!! Yeah, let's go ahead and fire some assistant coaches after the first year of our new staff's hiring! That should create some stability! Just what we need! Why do you idiots think we are in this position to begin with? Too much staff turnover! Do I like our conservative game plans on offense? No! However, we have had a true FR QB throwing to freshmen and sophomore WRs in a completely new system. Do you think that might have something to do with it?? Only questions I want answered are why isn't Lane getting a lot more touches, and why can't we throw the ball over the middle more, especially some slants? That's it. Firing coaches after year 1 is not the answer. If this type of game plan is the same after years 2 and 3, then yes, changes are in order. The instant gratification attitude of this world that we live in now is sickening some times.

Butch will not do anything with his staff. He is very loyal. And for the record staff changes at this point are not what this program needs. Butch sees the problems as talent deficiencies not coaching ineptness.

Clemson's always felt like they were in better position than most people on here recognized. Early reports were positive from his visit. If I'm a Vol, I would just hope that they were all out at some party on Saturday night, and he wasn't sitting there watching that game with Sammy, Kitt, and Watson.

I'd still lean Vols if I had to pick. They're always one of the top ones mentioned, so I know that they are the measuring stick.

Luckily, we'll both look a hell of a lot better after his trip down to Florida next week. What a dumpster fire that is.

I think this staff should have 3 years together to try and develop the program together. It is stupid to expect them to come in and change these players losing habits in 8 months. Give them a chance to bring in their own players and have a few years to coach them up before you are so quick to judge them.

I wish our fanbase could just wait 4 years before they want to fire anyone.

The biggest problem the last staff had was the lack of continuity each year on the staff. We need this staff to stay put and not be switching systems/coaching styles each off season.

He has quite a few elite recruits from his own state working on him on our end as well.

It will come down to two things:

How truly important is being close to home for his family?

Is he buying into Butch's pitch of staying home and being part of the legacy that rebuilds your home state school?

If the only factor was how the teams were playing now and which team had the better QB situation it would be Clemson every day...but it isn't.

Last guy?

I don't think he ever would have turned the ship around, but if the program didn't have such negative energy around it constantly and his staff didn't continually shake up, he would have had a better shot.

I think 4 years is fair for ANY new coach.

Obviously one with Butch and his staff's pedigree deserves an even longer leash than Dooley's.
