'14 TN WR Josh Malone (UT commit 12/4/13)

I'm back to thinking UGA has the lead.

We got UT and Butch pulling out all the stops to get a leg up.

Meanwhile, Richt is over there smoking cigars and putting his feet up on a leather ottoman because he knows this deal is sealed. He hears about this financial aid agreement from Malone on the phone, chuckles, and says, "Butch wants you to do what? ahahahah that silly SEC rookie. Yeah, sure, let's sign one of those too. Send it over at your convenience my man."

I've said this before and I'll repeat it again for your benefit.
Nashville to Knoxville - 179 miles approx. 2 hrs. - 45 min.
Nashville to Athens - 307 miles approx. 5 hrs. - 10 min.

Very simple, Malone is a Vol. Closer to home.

Why didn't closer to home work for Marlon Brown & Patrick Turner?

Josh isn't going to pick solely on proximity. There are a multitude of factors the Malone family is evaluating as it pertains to the University of Tennessee Knoxville.

Winston factor is played up way to much. He will be there one year with Josh. Which also happens to be the year that Josh will get the least amount of playing time.

Didn't know Josh Malone was Marlon Brown & Patrick Turner. The Malone family is very tight.

My point is that just because it is closer, doesn't mean it is a defacto lock-down.

It sounds like he's got some pretty great parents - if that's the case, and he honestly favored UGA, they'd likely be happy to spend another 2 hours enjoying each other's company in the car to see him play.

He isn't favoring UGA. They're in 3rd. Your just trying to piss people off and it's getting old

For some families being closer is more important than anything. Two hour difference is two hours both ways. There isn't a home game the Malones would have to miss in Knox. Whether it is a noon or 7pm kick off. They could still be home that evening as well. There is no other school for Josh where that is possible.

Marlon Brown's grand mother didn't want him to play for Kiffin and O. Understandable if you ask me. Patrick Turner was gonna be a Vol until Pete Carrol swooped in on a visit to Goodpasture. He flew in on the USC plane and Turner was a Vol. When he flew out he was a Trojan. USC was on top of the college football world then. Neither of these cases are similar. Malone already turned down Bama. He isn't chasing hype.

You could still go to every home game at UGA/Clemson - just get a cheap motel/hotel right outside of the city if money is an issue.

For a family who seems to be so meticulous in managing this recruitment situation (which I think is awesome), it's really hard for me to believe they'd spend this much time/energy if location was that big of a factor.

You pulled two examples out of your ass, one was faulty, and you retort to this?

Quality.

I referenced the two most recent, high-profile WRs from the state of Tennessee who went somewhere else when we went all-hands on deck to get them.

In both cases, UT was closer than the school they chose.

Bump. Malone deserves to be at the top of the first page, not halfway down the first page.

Cue the pitchforks.

what makes u think richt has his feet on an ottoman? the guy is kneeling, praying to keep his job.

meanwhile, we lead for josh malone.
