Vandy is a good team. Record and effort speak volume. Granted, not nearly as tough as our schedule.

We can win though.

I think that is unrealistic/inaccurate.

Whether we want to admit it or not both of these teams have beaten us over the last two seasons.

I can see a scenario where either/both teams beat us. I'm not being pessimistic because I actually think we will win both. However, a couple of turnovers (which has little to nothing to do with coaches) can turn either game against us. We may be better than Vandy/KY but not so much so that we can overcome several player mistakes.

Dooley.

haha...ok...

Also, a whole lot of players who were active participants in those losses.

So basically what you are saying (based on the last couple of comments) is that Butch is the next Dooley if he loses one of these next two?

Painting yourself in the corner there.

Lol what's do you think this year then?

We are average. We played a crazy schedule and came up big in two games. Flip the Florida dates for vandy and us and we best Florida too. Vandy has played both teams at their lowest point of the season with crazy injuries. We didn't have that luxury.

No, I'm saying Butch is a MUCH better coach than Dooley and there's enough talent on the team, particularly on offense, to beat Vandy and UK by double digits.

It's Butch's job to get his team motivated to go out there and give it 110% for 60 minutes. If they do that UT should win. That's all I'm saying.

I'm not saying we will lose to Vandy. But they are definitely capable. I mean they have beaten two teams we have lost to this year.

Spot on. We could lose to either of these teams, easily. We will not be significantly out talenting them.

If I've learned one thing about the Vols this year it's that our past recruiting class rankings are mostly meaningless. Many of those guys that remain here have failed to live up to potential for various reasons.

How in the hell did we play such a great defensive game against SC, when we've sucked against all other top 10 opponents? Has anyone figured that out yet?

I'm hopeing it is because we had an extra week to prepare and playing at home doesn't hurt. That is why I feel good about the Vanderbilt game next week.

well you said if we lose either then it is all on the coaches/Butch...

I think that is an unfair and extreme view point. Basically you are giving no wiggle room to the possibility that "crap happens".

Agreed. I think Ron is looking at this the wrong way. But I also think Ron represents the majority of our fanbase in saying that.

Right, because as long as the team gives their all for 4 quarters neither of these teams should beat UT. And it's the coach's job to make sure they give their all.

Dooley's teams quit on him late in the season the last 2 years. We're going to see if Butch's do the same or if they have enough pride to give their all for Tennessee.

I think the players have a responsibility to get themselves up, personally. I'm certain CBJ is doing everything he can.

Do you guys really think Vandy has more talent than all of the teams they've beaten this year or did they win some of those games because their coaching staff gets the most out of them?

I think we will play hard both games...I think he will have them emotionally invested...but let's say Dobbs goes in the crapper and throws three picks. We aren't likely recovering from that.

Vandy has a similar talent level as us, with recruits who have been in that system for 3 years. Again, not saying we will lose, but that "really bad" team beat UGA and UF. We couldn't. They force a bunch of turnovers- we have a freshman qb.
