On a different note....why the hell is Ohio State talking trash? Not sure if same player both times but one was saying they would kill either Bama or FSU it didn't matter and another one or the same guy tweeted bye bye to Oregon when they lost. Every team mentioned would walk the dog on THE little o.

New rule: When you play sisters of the poor every keep your damn mouth shut.

hope they get stomped in a bowl game

probably OSU vs Stanford. my money is on Stanford

We lost by 4 on the road to start the season to a pretty quality team in Xavier. Personally, I'm not overly worked up about it. I thought the team showed fight and looked better in the second half.

Now, we need to continue to show improvement and get a lot of wins going forward. But this opening game doesn't concern me that much, personally.

Jury's still out on how good Zo is. He certainly hasn't had the immediate impact Pearl did, but this will also be the first year Zo is playing with a full deck of cards.

Agreed, but to say definitively that Zo a better coach and developer than Pearl is completely incorrect imo.

I hope this isn't true. I really like him as a player and a person. Seems like a great down to earth guy. Plus I think they can win it all. Anyone but Bama.

Agreed. This happened a year ago, so I can't imagine any new evidence will arise.

its that time of the year when we get people (non regulars) coming to the forums and creating threads asking questions instead of looking for the answer first. the days of multiple threads being created on the same subject have approached us. "insiders" and trolls will start popping up left and right. people will act like they know everything about the recruiting class although they havent been here in over a year.

fun days ahead, until NSD is done and over.

Cheers to "the regulars".

What is the working definition of a "regular" and a "non-regular?" Is there a secret handshake or password or what?

Anyway, thanks for the good old hillbilly welcome.

Making this comparison is possibly the biggest slap in the face to Coach Zo. The players love him. They bought into his system just as quickly as our football players apparently bought into Butch Jones' system. You won't find many other better basketball coaches out there than Zo, and that is stated by many of his peers. IMO, he isn't recruiting "pretty well." He's doing an amazing job recruiting. This is UT basketball. This isn't Duke, UK, Syracuse, Kansas, UCLA, Michigan State, etc. CCM has had us fighting for some of the best players in the nation immediately after taking the job.

Maybe it's because he isn't the outspoken, visibly energetic guy that Pearl and Jones are. What should our expectations be this year? I just don't understand how people are acting like this after one game, an away game, against a very good team. Xavier is never a slouch at home and in basketball in general.

I won't take anything away from Pearl, but you can tell the difference between Zo and Pearl in terms of coaching ability and developing players. I would rather watch grass grow than watch Pearl's flex offense.

I am not impressed by his overall recruiting so far other than Hubbs. And I do not see any outstanding player development. Next class is 4 three star players to replace our best players. Next year looks bare in the player cupboard.

Pearl and Tony were much better at preparing a game plan for each opponent. There was always a chance to win. and if a coach ever developed a player it was Pearl with Weezy.

I hope CCM and this team live up to their potential this year. That would be a kick.

This is very true - Zo has gotten it bad.

We should have beat Xavier - but it's early in the season. Lots of games, let's hope they peak on the back end.

"Court filing in Vandy rape case seeks text messages from coaches"

Holy ****. I sincerely hope that's not true. Franklin is a douchebag or the highest order but I would like to think that the man wouldn't aid and/or abet his players in a sexual assault.

If it comes to light that he or any member of his staff did, I'd burn the entire staff to the ground, if I were the prosecutor.

Of course he was involved. The coaches almost always know what's going on.

As a player/person, someone in that group is going to a trainer, position coach or head coach for advice. I've had little doubt that multiple people within the program hoped this disappeared into thin air and knew about it the night of or morning after. No proof at all and no insider info. Just a gut feeling knowing the player/coach relationship and the chances that at least one player or spokesman takes it to a/the coach.

Coaches are like fathers to those guys. There's just no way one of them didn't know about it.

Is it just me or does northern Illinois look faster than us on offense? They run the same o as we are trying to do. And no, not bashing our coaches or players.
