There will be some fans will be critical of Butch Jones after he wins a championship.

I can see the excuses now:

"He only won a championship because of Dobbs/Ferguson. He's really not that good of a coach."

"Butch will impress me when we win 3 championships."

"He lost a game a season after winning a championship. Fahr Butch!!!"

He only beat Bama 41 - 14. We have no offense and he should be fired......

BTW, on Pig's stretch in OT against UGA ruled a fumble, he had possession of the ball at its trailing tip when he crossed the plane, in case anyone has any doubt.

Vols -1.5 early line against vandy and only -2.5 at kentucky per a sports book interviewee on 104.5.

We beat vandy and I am taking out a loan for the cats game.

UT vs Vandy:
UT - 38
Vandy - 24

The reason Vandy has been winning is their opponents lack of ball security. They beat UF with less than 200 yards total offense. They kept getting the ball in the redzone. Shut down Matthews and we win.

UT vs UK:
UT - 55
UK - 17

I think CBP's run and gun style would fit this current team much better than CCM's defensive oriented and slow it down style. This team may be the most athletic we've had in a while. What happened last night in the closing minutes when we started pressing and playing fast on offense? A 13-2 run to get to within 3. Cuonzo needs to let these boys run, imo.

I'm behind Cuonzo 100% but if he doesn't produce this year with this talent I think he needs to go. Next year won't be any easier losing McRae, Maymon, Stokes(likely), Barton, and whoever else. We'll see how it plays out.

I'm not even gonna lie though, if it doesn't work out this year, I wouldn't be against bringing Bruce back. Not one bit. That doesn't mean I'm hoping we tank this year, either. It's just CBP came in and created an energy around the program that had been missing for quite some time. Similar to what Butch has done with football so far. He took us to the top being ranked #1 for the first time in UT history and missed the final four by a point or two.

I hate to say it and I really hope I'm wrong but I kinda feel like CCM may be our Dooley of basketball and we may not realize it until another coach comes in and takes this program to the level it has the potential to be at consistently. Yes, he has recruited pretty well, but imo, there are a lot of coaches out there that could do just as well or better with everything UT has to sell. After all, most of Volnation thought Dooley was doing a decent job up until the end and then Butch comes in and we're all scratching our heads wondering wtf were we thinking. I know this is just the start of year 3 under Cuonzo and I hope he builds a power house, I really do, but I do miss CBP being the lead story on sports center bc he's drenched in sweat from his passion for winning and coaching. Making this comparison is possibly the biggest slap in the face to Coach Zo. The players love him. They bought into his system just as quickly as our football players apparently bought into Butch Jones' system. You won't find many other better basketball coaches out there than Zo, and that is stated by many of his peers. IMO, he isn't recruiting "pretty well." He's doing an amazing job recruiting. This is UT basketball. This isn't Duke, UK, Syracuse, Kansas, UCLA, Michigan State, etc. CCM has had us fighting for some of the best players in the nation immediately after taking the job.

Maybe it's because he isn't the outspoken, visibly energetic guy that Pearl and Jones are. What should our expectations be this year? I just don't understand how people are acting like this after one game, an away game, against a very good team. Xavier is never a slouch at home and in basketball in general.

I won't take anything away from Pearl, but you can tell the difference between Zo and Pearl in terms of coaching ability and developing players. I would rather watch grass grow than watch Pearl's flex offense.

Pearl has taken multiple teams deep in the tourney with players he personally recruited and developed. Zo not so much. I don't think there's any evidence that Zo is definitely a better coach than Pearl. You may think that, but there's 0 evidence to support it.

Here are my predictions:

UT - 31
Vandy - 24

Close game through three quarters, and we pull away in the fourth. Our ability to consistently run the ball gives us the victory.

UT - 27
UK - 20

This game will be closer than we'd all like, just like it has been every time we've played at Kentucky in recent years. But we'll pull away in the end.

We make a bowl game, and the dark clouds over Tennessee football begin to legitimately feel like they are blowing away.

With nothing to complain about, the Football Forum falls into disuse.

We lost by 4 on the road to start the season to a pretty quality team in Xavier. Personally, I'm not overly worked up about it. I thought the team showed fight and looked better in the second half.

Now, we need to continue to show improvement and get a lot of wins going forward. But this opening game doesn't concern me that much, personally.

Jury's still out on how good Zo is. He certainly hasn't had the immediate impact Pearl did, but this will also be the first year Zo is playing with a full deck of cards.

On a different note....why the hell is Ohio State talking trash? Not sure if same player both times but one was saying they would kill either Bama or FSU it didn't matter and another one or the same guy tweeted bye bye to Oregon when they lost. Every team mentioned would walk the dog on THE little o.

New rule: When you play sisters of the poor every keep your damn mouth shut.

Tennessee returned to work inside the Neyland-Thompson Sports Center Wednesday in its last full-scale, major work of its open week.

The Vols will do some work on Thursday but Wednesday's focus indoors remained on high-intensity fundamentals work.

It was once again a maintenance day for Antonio 'Tiny' Richardson, who didn't work Tuesday either. Cody Blanc remained on crutches for the second day in a row, and Riley Ferguson, who continues to spin the ball extremely well, had the black wrap back on his right leg.

LaDarrell McNeil, Brent Brewer, Brian Randolph, Devaun Swafford and Max Arnold donned green jerseys.

Tennessee next hosts Vanderbilt on Nov. 23 inside Neyland Stadium at 7 p.m. The Commodores host Kentucky this weekend and are still trying to get back starting quarterback Austin Carta-Samuels. Patton Robinette has started for the Commodores of late.

The Vols are mostly healthy and are intensely working their fundamentals --- in all aspects of the game. Butch Jones is adamant the Vols shown progress in open-field tackling, lane discipline on coverage units and more.
