Hope we get this kid in Orange. With that said, if he does decide to play his college ball elsewhere, taking another DL guy with the spot would be alright by me. Oh wait, Mixon & Thomas. Carry On.

But in regards to Malone, I realize you all have no reason to trust me more than anyone else, but I would be a little more cautious. Malone is not a Vol lock as of last week.

If we get him we get him. WR is a position I am not very worried about going forward. We have alot of young talent there and more coming in with this class. Wharton, Creamer, Pearson, Booth, and Berry is a very solid group. A great group came in last year and will only get better. Already got one of the top WRs for 2015 and several others very interested in Tennessee. Malone is a bonus at this point IMO.

I think he is needed. He and North would be our two best receivers in the long run. Maybe right away.

But you're right, we do have a great class thus far, though I'm not sure Evan will play WR.

I agree on Evan, he could end up playing several positions. I would rather see him at CB, but he seems to want to play offense. I think CBJ at least gives him a look.

If you don't mind me asking, what is your connection to the situation. You always seem to have into on him

I'm not necessarily connected to him. I cover the 9AAA district, and I know a group of people who are very close to him. As close as it gets without being family.

However, they're friends of mine, and I don't think it'd be right to share exactly what they told me. They know I'm a diehard UT fan so when I asked they let me know what they thought he was thinking. Which was still just a guess, I believe. Their guess is as good as it gets though.

With North, Pig, Harris, Pearson, Booth, Wharton, Creamer and hopefully Malone coming in I gotta feel like Croom should move to TE. He already shows he can block and I think he would be a BEAST TE.

With as sorry as our TE position has been, as I have said on here numerous times, it is ridiculous that Croom has not been the pass catching TE inside or split out. He is their best blocking WR and has the perfect size, speed and hands for the position. Maybe they wanted to make sure they did not lose the two excellent TE recruits. That's the only reason I can see.

When Downs caught the little quick seam route a couple games ago, I admit I wondered why Croom could not be in there doing that. I think he lacks the being physical part of playing the TE position. He would be a huge mismatch for the defense as far as pass catching goes.

Always respect your opinion LV, but disagree a bit. Only one I'm sold on coming in right away and making an impact is Pearson. Hope to be surprised. As far as our current crop, IMO at WR, North is the only one I'd call a true playmaker. Pig is more than adequate in the slot. I'm hoping Paul Harris takes a giant leap in the off season. Croom has been a little underwhelming and J Smith is not near ready to play WR in the SEC right now.

I think we need Malone to create a 3 man rotation of dynamic, game changing playmakers at WR.

So from what you heard... Did he not think Dobbs is the answer at QB? and who leads for him UGA or FSU if we don't?

Ummm...hmmmm...well...geez....maybe kinda sorta ok??

Croom should play the entire game. He's good at catching and blocking. He's a beast and mismatch for anyone. Jmo
In three wide sets it should be: north, croom, and pig. Again jmo

I agree Croom ought to be on the field this year, never Smith. He's done some decent possession receiving, blocks well.... just don't see the ability to be a dynamic playmaker at this point.

I was mainly looking toward next year. WR rotation of North, Malone and Pearson would have potential to be elite and would definitely be our best, most talented 3 IMO, understanding that Azzani wants to be able to rotate up to 8-9 a game.

I think we would be just fine with North and Pearson on the outside, Pig in the slot, Helm at TE, and Lane/Hurd at RB. Gives us alot of pass catching threats. Always can use more depth, but it's not near the need as other positions IMO. If the staff can not take the 15 or so WRs we have/will have and put a quality product on the field, I would not want to be in their shoes. If we have to have 4-5 top 3 type WRs to beat anyone, we have the wrong WRs coach.

Ah okay. Well then that is good at least. Was the beating this weekend the reason your people think he likes us less?

They don't even necessarily think that. I just believe people somehow got a misinterpretation that he was all vol. And I talked with them before the AU game so not sure what he thought of it, but I don't believe that would have been a big factor.

Malone would definitely help insofar as getting a third true wideout out there. At the slot Howard is good, but having Jenkins out there will make a big difference. He is a playmaker, but was injured. He will be back healthy.

Regardless, it would be nice to have 4 playmakers out there in 4 WR sets: North, Pearson, Jenkins, and Malone. That would be a matchup nightmare.

Thank you for pointing out Jenkins. That dude is a beast, and I look forward to seeing him next year. Those would definitely be our best four.

After that, rotate in Croom, Pig, Booth, Wharton, & J Smith, and there's our rotation as per Azzani's wishes.

Croom probably stays at WR right now, because we don't have anyone else.
