The Bizzaro World of the BCS, the Gators, and UT

Florida played a better game vs. Tenn. It's that simple. Tenn did not make the plays. They were clearly a different team two days ago. That's not saying that UGA sucks, that's saying that our players finally stepped up and used their talents. Just because Florida gave us a thrashing does not mean they have better players. Does App State have better players than Michigan? Does Stanford have better players than USC? Does Illinois have the best players in their Conference? Does LSU and AUBURN have better players than Florida? The simple answer is No. Those players are just making the plays when it counts and when it matters. Tenn just wasn't doing that so far this season, and I'm not so sure the team that showed up on Saturday will show up for the rest of the season, but either way, that does not make our players worse than Florida. There are players on each side of the ball on each team that are better than others, but you can't say all the players of Florida are better.

well stated

but this argument undermines your point about how closely you played the Tigers this past weekend. LSU was clearly the more talented of the teams (as was the case last year as well, but you still won a NC). The scoreboard actually helps your squad look better in this case, but the talent differential was significant. In fact, Harvin was nearly absent because his speed was matched and people have had some time to prepare for the fluky offense.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying UF's jort wearing, feathered mullet wearing rednecks are any lesser people than the Bengal Tiger types. I not saying that Gainesville blows and Baton Rouge is mecca. I'm not saying Floridians are second rate citizens. I'm just saying that LSU had a better team last year and currently has a better team than UF and has to overcome some poor coaching to win (they didn't last year and did this year).

:eek:lol:

to quote LG, the season is a marathon, not a sprint.

we tripped up early, they've tripped up now, and we have come back passed the gators at the half way point.

this is where we are.

to hat's point regarding scoreboards, all the debate about who's better, who had a bad day, who was PMSing is generally monopolized by the losers. The winners no longer need address it.

:eek:lol:what he said.

There's a real easy way to determine who the best team in the SEC East is. Turn on your television around 5 PM on the first Saturday in December. The team you see on the field in Atlanta is the division champion. You play to win the game. Scoreboards aren't just for annoying commercials. The numbers on them are very important.

I would agree with that if everyone played the same conference schedule. Not making an excuse, but it is a reality that from year to year one team can have a slightly easier road than the other when it comes to non-division SEC opponents.

Granted, we played Mississipi, but we also played Auburn and LSU. You guys have Alabama, but they are no LSU -- probably on a par with Auburn.

Man, did you join Meyer and Tebow?

I know this seems like a season on the Zook, but you handed our rearends to us, we are going to make fun of you.

I mean, your leaders, the head coach and star quarterback were crying..............

Come on LG!

I don't disagree with your first point. But on your second, you can throw Bama's record out the window when we play each other. They are quite capable of playing us close most of the time.

And we ALWAYS have to play YOU, which is a pretty big hurdle.

FLORIDA is still overrated.....u guys call me what you want to, say I have no point, or I am an idiot......BUT, all I see is defensive coordinators figuring out the spread option and showing that Tebow can't drop back and pass accurate......no curls, no skinny posts, no outs, no slants....in fact, unless it's a busted coverage or an athletic shuttle pass (which is impressive) Tebow can't do anything but try to run over you!! The DC's of the SEC are too smart not to stop this backyard style bonanza offense UF runs.....Auburn and LSU made Tebow one dimensional......and if he has to beat you with his arm....he is 0 - 2!! Now, let the insults continue my way......

They were emotionally spent after coming oh-so-close to beating the team that everyone had circled on the calendar as the big game. As someone else on here said, you ought to be so lucky to have players and coaches that committed to winning.

Yeah, you go ahead and think that.............

Menstral cycle hit early this month?

Emotionally spent=crying????

Law............come on!

We are crying like heck to get back in the SEC East :)

College performance-wise, there is only one thing similar between them at the moment: They can't win the big ones.
:eek:hmy: I hate to be the one to say this, but tiny Timmy Tebag has a National Championship ring. He didn't play the whole game at qb but he made an impact.

I have to agree here. There is no team or coaching staff that has had more reason to sit down and have a good cry than the Vols after the losses we suffered to the Gators, many times probably having the superior team...but you didn't see Vols blubbering.

What happened at Florida is worth crying over.........

:cray:

59 points?

You're digging a deep hole LG

What happened to the "you're so F'ed" offense?

He made an ill-advised jump pass that worked out and fullbacked his way to some first downs during the season. His impact on the NC game was zilch.

He has made some plays this year and is well suited to their offense, but giving him any real credit for that NC is fantasy. Real credit lies at the incompetence of Les Miles, USC and Booty choking at UCLA, a blocked FG against SC, prevent D by UT, etc.

USF would beat UF, fsu or miami right now. They are the best team in the state.

on top of that... Tennessee would demolish USF, then beat LSU, then move on to the NFL and destroy the Colts and the Patriots. Tony Romo would run in fear and the Vols would never get to face the Cowboys....

Look, I hate the gators, can't stand cry baby Tebag and can barely tolerate LG when he starts his condescending bs, but the fact remains he has a NC ring to put on his finger so to say they can't win the big game is silly. All your excuses at the end of your post could also be replaced with Stearner fumble, Syracuse pass interference etc. Every NC team has had some luck to get there.

OH MY GOSH!

Well, let's talk about all that transpired during the Vols' "championship run" back in 1998.

:whistling:

absolutely, but we're not going to brag about any backup QB because they played a few downs during the '98 season or spend our time discussing his contributions toward the ring. JD Booty has a ring too, but I'm not going to give him any credit for it until he's responsible, which he's proving less and less capable of being.
