Recruiting Forum: Football Talk VIII

Anybody give KY a chance against Ms St? I think Kentucky will play hard and will hang in the game for the first half and maybe into the third quarter. But I just can't see them winning. They can't really score. Their defense is decent. State will score some points and UK won't be able to keep pace.

It's in Starkville, too. I think KY puts up a fight and actually keeps it somewhat close late in the game, but Miss. St. should pull the game out. Miss. St. has been pretty disappointing, and Mullen's stock as a coach has taken a significant drop in value since last year. JMO.

How Miami Got Away With It: 125 FBS Teams, Ranked

44. TENNESSEE (4-3). The most impressive true freshman in the country over the first half of the season (if not the most productive) is Tennessee wide receiver Marquez North, who would get serious consideration for the title based on this clutch catch against South Carolina alone.

North finished with just three catches for the game, but two of them were long, acrobatic grabs in the fourth quarter that set up a pair of field goals—i.e. the difference in a 23-21 upset, the Vols' first win over a ranked opponent in 19 tries.

So, I've had 5 calls or texts this week from friends or family asking me to help find Auburn tickets. UT only has singles until student allotment (and Auburn if they haven't already).

Looks like people are starting to wake up.

I'm coming from Louisville with a big group, meeting up with a big group in Knoxville ...

I think the stadium will be "turnt up" as the kids say.

SN: That TIME test says I belong in GA. Close enough I guess? At least I stay in the land of sweet tea, beautiful southern girls, and real football.

I've mentioned before, the pastor in the only English speaking church in town is from Tuscaloosa, and how that creates great emotional anxiety in me... You can't even escape bammers in Northern Thailand!

Well, Sunday, my wife was visiting with his wife, and she thought it would be nice to pass us some of her children's outgrown clothes. Suddenly... Bama shirts came out of the bag. My wife was taken aback and said, "oh no. My husband would not allow that in the house." And on game week no less.

Love my woman

The pastor at my hometown church is a Vandy fan (Unicorns do exist).

One summer when I was in the youth we went to the lake and when rough housing I nearly drowned him. When he asked why, I simply replied, " Anchor down".

Same here. My wife's came out as a NC girl - so we are fine with the spot in east TN that is halfway between the two.

Alabama does not want any part of Oregon. This Alabama defense is not on the level of Alabama's defense the last couple season (although they are still very good). And this Oregon offense is a notch better than the Oregon offense of the last couple seasons. Alabama will struggle with Mariota. If those two meet in the NC, my money would be on Oregon. I am able to put my SEC homer-ism aside enough to be objective.

I agree with this as well. Will get a better view of their defense of a decent spread O when they play Auburn. Can't match the speed and pace of Oregon's offense though. What Bama has going for it is their players are very disciplined on D. They maintain gap control and eye discipline - rarely out of position. Just as adept with zone as they are in man, so Mariota will have to be able to read some sophisticated coverages. Interesting match up if it were to happen.

ESPN is going to switch programming early in the 3rd quarter and no one will even notice it...

I just noticed, my next post will be #1,000. It needs to be a true pearl of wisdom. Much like this post...

I actually disagree with this. North has been great as of late, but Sutton has been solid from day one. He's not getting enough love around the SEC.

Absolutely. Some of these national guys need to wake up and actually watch Sutton play. You hear them on every broadcast saying "Now look for them to pick on the freshman a lot today", and it's clear that they haven't done their homework. Cam Sutton has been pretty damned close to dominant on the edge for us.

For those of you whose employer blocks Vimeo, like mine does, here's a youtube, poor quality facsimile, but it will give you some idea of what is being talked about.

The ranking is based on percentage cap. We are actually #1 for accumulative attendance, and #2 in average attendance.

Thanks for the tip, but I tried this, got the vimeo page, but the content was still blocked.

No biggie. I can always check it out at home later tonight.

Thanks again! :hi:
