Recruiting Forum: Football Talk VIII

If it wasn't such a public approach it would be fine. I just don't like any hint of giving them more motivation

I'm a little late to the discussion here but I like the "red team" approach on a couple of levels.

1. It is an attempt to minimize the mystique of Alabama in the minds of our players.

2. It gets back to Alabama players and basically says "F-you". I don't mind this because we have absolutely NOTHING to lose. Everyone expects us to get whipped. You don't beat a bully by poor mouthing. At some point as a program we have to believe we belong on the field with these teams. Trash talk doesn't always motivate the opponent to play better...most of the time trash talk causes the opponent to step out of character because they allow their emotions to get the best of them. That's why guys trash talk.

I'm off of work on Friday. Thinking of eating nothing but Krystals tonight and tomorrow, driving to Tuscaloosa and laying a brick at the front door of the Bryant Museum or Denny Chimes.

Who gots bail money?

I swear to God I'd bail you out

I am sure that's what CBJs is trying to do but IMO it also is bulletin board motivation for Bama. If it wasn't public I would like the approach

Bulletin board material...for Bama?

Don't get me wrong, Saban won't let them think for a millisecond that they're going to win, just by showing up but being called the "Red Team" by Tennessee is...kind of a show of respect, if you're looking at it from their perspective, almost laughable.

From our end though...I freaking love it. What's not to like?

Preparing them mentally is a big part of the game and, IMO, a HUGE reason why they're playing so much better than last year.

Hell, I wish Fulmer had done this in the 90's with Florida...

Not a fan of this red team strategy by CBJ. I see no reason to motivate the other side.

Anybody remember how a similar tactic was perceived by our fanbase for Jerry Dinardo at vandy??

He's not doing it to motivate Bama; he's doing it to not psyche out his players talking about the elephant in the room that is Alabama. (Pun intended).

Bama fans painted The Rock.

It's war.

Muthaf.....

Find a traffic cam, surveillance, something...get the f...ers who did this. Not advocating a crime be committed but...a beating has never been more deserved.

Just thought of something....

How brilliant would CBJ be if he was the one who did it?

Make your team angrier than they've ever been....go into Tuscaloosa with the f'in Rock of Gibraltar on their shoulders....leave Alabama having accomplished one of the biggest upsets in school history....sing "I DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE WHOLE STATE OF ALABAMA" all the way back to Knoxville.

He's just clever enough to do it.

Oh hell naw. Some outsiders might think what's the big deal? It's just a Rock. But no, they went and f***** with OUR Rock. One of the long standing symbols of our University. It's on.

Ask Auburn if this is beyond Bama fans. I don't think CBJ needs to go this low to motivate his team and this smells (literally) of Bama fans.

Urban Meyer uses this type of rivalry team tactic at OSU with Michigan and he did it at Florida with us. The team will be focused and ready to roll. This HATE BAMA WEEK!!!! BKA THE DAMN RED TEAM!!!

I hope Big Dan goes bezerk in this game and just wrecks people. Somebody hypnotize him and make the color red his trigger.

I don't think so. That is the VOLS rock.

During spring practice, Butch Jones, the first-year football coach at the University of Cincinnati, spotted a coed running the stadium steps wearing a T-shirt bearing another school's logo. He dispatched a team manager to escort the young lady to the university bookstore, where she could buy a Cincinnati shirt, or feel free not to run the stadium steps again.

More than anything I've despised that helpless feeling as a fan that other teams and fans can talk all the chit they want and our team wasn't going to do squat about it but prove them more than right. Thank God those days are over. Win or lose our guys will take the fight to them. I believe that until they prove otherwise.

Will fit in with the rest of the statues in Tuscaloosa IMO.

If it had been a rock on the UAT campus, one of the updykes would take it upon themselves to dynamite a section of Neyland Stadium.
