Recruiting Forum: Football Talk VIII

For posters that are still hesitant to believe Worley can be a very good QB for UT bear with me.

Picture in your mind Peyton or Casey standing in the pocket with Clowney coming full bore at him while he waits for a true freshman receiver to create space on a long hitch and go sideline pass. Peyton or Casey drifts back a little to gain space and launches a high pass while getting hit that drops into the only window the receiver has a chance to catch the ball with his only hand and arm free while remaining inbounds some 40+ yards from release for the biggest play of the game for the biggest win the program has seen in over 5+ years for your long suffering football program and fans. Now add in your favorite QB had busted his passing thumb on a helmet in the second quarter and his off hand later in the game - but was still able to make key completions and not have any turnovers for the entire game.

Now - how do you react if you know it was Peyton or Casey that pulled that off? Be honest. Most of you would say it was legendary stuff. But because Worley did it some of you find reasons to worsen it or give all of the credit elsewhere or call it luck. Look - he most likely will not be a legendary QB. But he could turn out to be Ainge quality if the staff calls plays early in the game that help him gain confidence and trust in his young receivers. Ainge quality got us to the SEC championship game. How would that be as a goal for next season?

The defense holding Shaw in check on the ground for the most part and only 7-21 passing with just one big play was pretty impressive, imo. Shaw was playing as good as any qb in the sec coming into Neyland.

The dline looks like a completely different group from last year. They got constant pressure on Shaw and other than a few long runs by Davis they pretty much stuffed the run too. Not sure if it's just them being mostly seniors or Coach Strip or what. Probably a combination but they played really well yesterday and seem to be getting better every game. Not saying the rest of the D isn't playing well but it's nice to see the dline making a big difference in most of their last year here.

Really surprised Spurrier didn't attack the middle of the field. Every team who beat us beats us up the middle. Cam shuts down the outside on one side, but AJ is awful in the middle. Hopefully Saban's OC will be equally absent minded.

My boy Patton taking over the reins at Vandy now. So proud of him. I'm torn now, I want vandy to suck but I want him to be successful. Just not against us ha

For me it's really just his accuracy and I'm sure having young wr's has something to do with that but some of his passes are 5-10 yd short bounce passes or way behind etc. Heck, he even missed a short swing pass to Pig yesterday. A quick 10yd pass to the outside to a wide open wr. I just dont understand how he can be so far off on some of those throws.

He doesnt look very comfortable in the pocket either. I kinda agree with what someone said earlier about how he seems to settle down a little after taking a hit. I know he hasn't been the starter very long and it does seem he's slowly gaining more confidence. I just hope his accuracy gets better as he does. That's really my only problem with him. Outside of that he's been solid for the most part considering his and the wr's inexperience. If he puts it all together he could be real good. Especially as he grows with these wr's.

I was listening to the radio call I the game yesterday during the Sutton interception and missed it live. Kesling didn't do a great job if describing it (surprise surprise). Was is a bad throw by Shaw or a good play by Sutton?

Slightly under thrown

I am watching the replay on SportsSouth. It is the South Carolina radio crew-Todd Ellis. Folks we have nothing to complain about in Kesling as our radio guy. Todd Ellis is the worst radio play-by-play guy anywhere. He sucks.

Man, this thing with Peyton at the Colts stadium is emotional. He is truly one of the greatest players that ever played the game and everyone knows it.

If you watch his post game comments, Spurrier looks down at the stat sheet and says "21 passes? We called a lot more than 21.." It seems the coverages we were running kept causing Shaw to check out to a run and/or when the ran a pass play the secondary did a good job of keeping everyone covered and Shaw took off for one of the runs.

Spurrier just looked shell shocked that whole interview.

With the way the Clown was acting all game you can tell they thought the game was theirs and there was no way they would lose it. I would've loved to see a video of the Clown after the game winning(losing for them) kick.

They weren't sending people across the middle often. Maybe that's why no one was open lol.
