Recruiting Forum: Football Talk VIII

I don't believe UGA is ever going to be "great" with Richt. I think they are going to good most every year. UF is not going to do much until they do something different on offense. New head coach or new OC? Not sure. You can't beat really good teams on a regular basis being good on just one side of the ball. South Carolina, not sure. Spurrier may have hit his high water mark there. Don't know if they will ever be any better than they were last year. I think Mizzou is mostly experienced players. If their recruiting doesn't pick up, just don't see them hanging around that much. Last year they had a couple of tough games early, got banged up and never recovered. I would prefer they not be, because I have to live up here.

I don't like it. They need to take their lumps in the SEC imo, but they came into the east at the right time to have a shot at least in the near term.

On the bright side things are looking really good for us for all the same reasons. Missouri won't be able to recruit with us, and I wouldn't trade anyone on our staff for theirs. I can live with them being second best for the next couple years.

I was very very surprised they didn't get Davis on aj more in the passing game, ESP after that for sure drop for a first down early in the game. Every other offensive coordinator has seen that speed disadvantage jump out on film. You can beat TN with passes into aj's zone or reading him in man. Usually the middle of the field. Of course marlin walls made that a little more difficult with all the pressure he brought yest. Miller had a critical play too where he didn't even make the tackle, but forced shaw into others by taking away the middle

Miller dropping into that middle zones was a great play. They anticipated that short cross hot route perfectly. I remember a couple plays where Sapp was covering Davis across the middle instead of AJ, which has a much better chance of working. I was surprised that Spurrier didn't figure out a way to exploit the middle more though. They have to TEs to kill people up the seam.

I keep thinking they're gonna take the win away from us after the game is over

agreed. as long as UT is beating them, the rest don't matter. We are definitely on the way up.

Word if sapp is on Davis the qb should just follow aj, bless his heart. I hope his speed improves for the nfl. His skill set should be more suited to an ala type team tho.

The middle is def open. Coach jake prob trying to limit his ints but they're just as likely on those outs

We had one crossing play that Croom caught for like a 20 yard catch and run. I would like to see more of it for sure.

Keys to the Bama game:

1) Believe
2) Avoid the letdown after a big emotional win
3) Pressure AJM but don't put him out of the game, Sims is mobile, keep him on the sideline
4) Neyland Maxims & Butchisms
5) Worley has to have the game of his career
6) Neal and the OLine have to understand how much money they can get from this game
7) Gap contain & Spy the RB

How Often Do Underdogs Win Outright?

The simple fact is that we do have a chance. We'll soon find out just how much then we have this week to prepare for once again defying the odds-makers. The win yesterday was 4:1 against us. This week the challenge will be far greater. I expect each of us to give our all for Tennessee this week. It is who we are. If you knew the team approached this game exactly as you will would it change how you approach this game?

Spurrier Really wanted to go on that 4th and 2. I joked about Dooley yesterday, but small things like giving a different look after the first timeout, shows our attention to detail. Butch didn't blink and was ready for Steve to get crazy.

I'm not sure we're giving enough credit for marlin's tough runs yest, ESP the critical late ones that made palardy's game winner essentially an extra point, rather than a 46 yarder. He was bringing it at the end. At one point he got 7 yards after contact and fought and twisted and spins his way for a first down! Weak ward impression I'll concede that

Lane ran like a motherfer'. Some of those replays of his 8 or 10 yard pickups were ridiculous. With his vision, if he had Neal's speed too, good gosh almighty!

On a slightly related note, it killed me yesterday when the announcer said "Raijon Lane" scored the TD. haha!

I agree Ron "F" Bama and the midget that runs their*circus.... we will win not because of what happened yesterday, but because it still TENNESSEE vs ALABAMA the greatest game in football

We'll win because UT has the best coaching staff in CFB.

Our DL is going to disrupt McCarron all day forcing him to throw a couple pick 6's and lose a fumble or two. Worley will again protect the ball all game, no turnovers. And our tandem of RB's will get over 200 rushing yards. North and Pig combine for 150 receiving yards and 3 td's.

It's going to be quite the show, GBO!

What I love about this team is that we don't have a superstar that everyone leans on. Everyone has to do their part, even the fans are helping. This is definitely one of my favorite teams since Al Wilson/Little/Manning played together.

Someone just pointed that out on VQ.

After North's catch...

Ball at the 26

Lane for 5
Lane for 6
Lane for -1
Lane for 13

Lane's a boss.

We made some good adjustments this game. We were in zone a lot more than usual so it bothered the SCAR gameplan. Also Sapp on the RBs really helped out in man coverage. Spurrier just got out coached yesterday. :)

Also the critical play to one of our te's on our first td drive. Very quick route and pass. Huge play

So funny to see how much better Neal runs when Lane is playing. He's much much better as a runner when sharing carries. They feed off each other well.

Gillespie has had an impact on Rajon. He was really good at making a 1 yd gain a 3 yd gain at fla. Like coach said, those inches can make all the difference
