Recruiting Forum: Football Talk VIII

Yesterday was a crazy day in college football. The underdogs took control. I saw so many sick catches by WRs that you rarely ever see( north, Stanford and Fsu WRs)

Im prob just drinking kool aid but I think we will give bama a game next wknd. I think our dline can put pressure on AJ. We match up well with the style of offense they run. I wouldn't predict us to win but I will dream all week about how crazy it would be if we upset bama.

No you're not crazy, I think we're gonna give Bama a very good game. It's all about matchups, and we match up much better against a pro style team. Plus, we've got a lot to play for. Us, UGA, UF, USC all have 2 conference losses. And those teams are on the decline as a direct result of the injuries sustained against us. We are on the incline. IMO what we've done against UGA and SC was not luck. Something has snapped in this team.

Nothing would make me happier than spoiling their national title hopes.

It's crazy how much better the def is this season. I think we only had 2-3 busted coverages yesterday. Coleman is terrible in man to man situations but he is adequate in stopping the run or short passes. Our DL looks completely different. Man this win was great, bc it helps us get closer to a bowl game! Also I think we beat mizzu

That is scary.....LITERALLY!

That's a good point because Spurrier is good at scheming to make secondaries look silly. We were in position almost the entire game. Pretty much every big play I can think of were because of talent deficiencies and not players being put in bad positions.

Have you watched FSU play this year? That RS Frosh QB is tearing it up. FSU might be the only team in college football that could beat Bama. I don't believe LSU or Clemson could. Oregon could play them close, but I still think they would lose. As far as conferences, the PAC whatever number they are now isn't exactly a powerhouse this year, and neither is the SEC. A healthy gator team lost to Miami and a healthy UGA team lost to Clemson. No conference really has a sparkle this year.

The sad thing is, I think it's entirely likely Bama, Oregon, and FSU win out, leaving one team to get a final BCS screw.

First off Clemson did not play a healthy Uga. I suppose if you compare the health of that team and their team now you could make a case. I believe they were missing several starters that game. Their kicker, #1 WR, and a safety iirc.

FSU has played one game, Clemson. I believe if they played next weekend instead the game would be different. Clemson has 0 execution and 0 rhythm last night. Don't try to use the transitive property for your logic. It never works. I don't think there is one player on Clemson that I'd take over a Bama player. The roster for Bama is better, deeper and better coached in and out of gameday. Fsu would not win that game especially when you give CNS a month to prepare.

I was very very surprised they didn't get Davis on aj more in the passing game, ESP after that for sure drop for a first down early in the game. Every other offensive coordinator has seen that speed disadvantage jump out on film. You can beat TN with passes into aj's zone or reading him in man. Usually the middle of the field. Of course marlin walls made that a little more difficult with all the pressure he brought yest. Miller had a critical play too where he didn't even make the tackle, but forced shaw into others by taking away the middle

Jason Yellin (@JasonYellin)*According to @trendinalia following were #Trending Worldwide on Sat.: Marquez North for 15 minutes after his amazing catch.

Disagree, yest would have been a good day to be dismissive of fsu's talent, but not today. Throttled a good team on the road. Destroyed them actually with a freshman qb

I don't disagree with any of that, but I'm more looking at the makeup of the east over the next couple years. Do you see Florida, USCjr, or UGA being great within the next year or two? USC has peaked IMO, UGA loses Murray, and Florida is floundering. Missouri has a legit freshman QB and an offense that racked up 500 yards against an injured but still solid UF defense.

I don't believe UGA is ever going to be "great" with Richt. I think they are going to good most every year. UF is not going to do much until they do something different on offense. New head coach or new OC? Not sure. You can't beat really good teams on a regular basis being good on just one side of the ball. South Carolina, not sure. Spurrier may have hit his high water mark there. Don't know if they will ever be any better than they were last year. I think Mizzou is mostly experienced players. If their recruiting doesn't pick up, just don't see them hanging around that much. Last year they had a couple of tough games early, got banged up and never recovered. I would prefer they not be, because I have to live up here.

Like players, coaches get better with experience. Just because he didn't have a great go of it at UGA doesn't mean he's incapable of improving and putting together a better scheme with more experience. I'm liking what I'm seeing so far.

Except for 2 that come to mind.

I've been just driving around Columbia with my Vol flags up this morning blaring rocky top with the front windows down.

I'm getting some ugly stares. Haha!

I have thought about this too- not using the middle of the field very much. I am guessing they are trying to limit Worley's throws in the middle of the field but don't know. The throws to Downs and Croom were big plays and I think we could see more of it as CBJ coaches more games.

I don't understand why they would want to limit Worley's throws over the middle?? I don't think they are as dangerous most of the times, as some of the throws that he makes to the sidelines, especially with how open the middle of the field is. The defense is only having to defend 2/3s of the field, if we don't use the middle. It's the same concept as Worley never keeping the ball on the zone read. If we throw the ball 5-6 times over the middle and Worley keeps the ball 3-4 times a game, then the field opens up for more plays. Not complaining after a big win, that's for sure, but I just see ways that our offense can be so much more explosive and consistent.

I just wish we were playing Bama at our house. Team feeds off the crowd.

Poster in the Fball Forum just said we opened up as 26.5 dogs to Bama. Way too high!

Wow! Does seem very high. That's fine with me...CBJ will use it as a motivational tool, and have these guys ready to play.

The middle is def open. Coach jake prob trying to limit his ints but they're just as likely on those outs
