'14 TN DB Rashaan Gaulden (UT Signee 2/5/14)

He couldn't have played if it was torn right? That's like impossible isn't it?

If it tears it rolls up your leg and all kinds of crazy shat and pain happens. Thought it was impossible to move your foot up and down. Where's a f'n doctor when we need one?

That's my understanding. If it ruptures, you're not doing anything on it.

Your achilles is under so much tension, I'm not even sure if it could partially tear. Might be an all or nothing thing.

Yeah they're stretched tighter than a banjo string. Come to think of it, I've never heard of a partial tear on an Achilles, which is exactly why I was screaming for a doctor earlier. I should call mine and punk him out. We ride motorcycles together. "Wait your calling about someone else's Achilles" yeah one of our football recruits. You know I wouldn't call if it wasn't really important Stevo

Just tell Stevo how many tackles Gaulden has so far this year. He'll understand the gravity of the situation.

He knows I'm a freak about UT. I hit on all the nurses in his office. He loves me.

Per mayo clinic
Achilles tendon rupture - MayoClinic.com

"The Achilles tendon is a strong fibrous cord that connects the muscles in the back of your calf to your heel bone. If you overstretch your Achilles tendon, it can tear (rupture). The tendon can rupture completely or just partially.

If you have an Achilles tendon rupture, you might feel a pop or snap, followed by an immediate sharp pain in the back of your ankle and lower leg that usually affects your ability to walk properly. Surgery is often the best treatment option to repair an Achilles tendon rupture. For many people, however, nonsurgical treatment works just as well."

Well shanman is close enough to shaman which is close enough to a doctor for me

Achilles tendinopathy. Achilles tendinopathy includes one of two conditions:
Tendinitis. This actually means "inflammation of the tendon," but inflammation is rarely the cause of tendon pain.
Tendinosis. This refers to tiny tears (microtears) in the tissue in and around the tendon caused by overuse. In most cases Achilles tendon pain is the result of tendinosis, not tendinitis. Some experts now use the term tendinopathy to include both inflammation and microtears. But many doctors may still use the term tendinitis to describe a tendon injury.
Achilles tendon tear or rupture. An Achilles tendon also can partially tear or completely tear (rupture) . A partial tear may cause mild or no symptoms. But a complete rupture causes pain and sudden loss of strength and movement.

It's definitely not torn. He was still playing after it happened. It likely got stepped on or something. This kind if thing happens in football. He'll be fine.

I'm a 2013 UT graduate and currently I'm an M1 at the Medical University of South Carolina (full of USCe fans). no lies, I actually spent tonight in the anatomy lab studying the Achilles tendon (among other things) for an upcoming test. It is almost solely responsible for flexion (gas pedal motion) of the foot. It actually is made up by three muscles in the posterior leg, and tearing the tendon takes away all three. In short, you aren't running on a torn Achilles. no way

believe it or not, that's actually the first time i've pulled the "i'm a med student, listen to my medical knowledge" card. but the coincidence of literally looking at a dead persons skinned leg four hours ago was too good to pass up
