Breaking Bad on amc

Leave well enough alone perhaps?

AMC can't afford to leave well enough alone at this point. They managed to milk another half year or so out of Mad Men by splitting the final season like they did with BB but the finish line is in sight for that big show. After that they'll be left with only one with WD, albeit the most popular of them all. Nothing else they've developed has been able to stick so trying to squeeze a few more drops of blood out of one of their successful franchises through a spin off is the best plan of action they can come up with.

Walking Dead is more popular than BB? I don't see how that's possible. What are the respective ratings?

Yes, and it's not even close. BB averaged about 2 million views an episode until the final season when it started trending upward all year and ended with the finale getting about 10 million. I think the premiere episode of WD got 16 million.

Wow, I knew zombies were cool, but I always heard a lot more hype and discussion about BB than WD. I've yet to watch an episode.

If Lydia straight turned down Todd romantically, do you think his empty mind would be able to comprehend or would she be dead?

A lot of people got turned onto Breaking Bad well into the show's run, like season 4ish.

Most people started The Walking Dead in seasons 1 or 2; hence the big consistent numbers for TWD, and the huge trend upwards for BB in the last 2 seasons of the show.

It's an hour long---seems to much. I worry that this may crash; I hope not, but that's my worry.

I think it can work but it likely can't go much more than 3-4 seasons. Plus I don't want them to delve too much into backstory of things in BB; for example, Gus; part of the intrigue was the mystery surrounding him. I don't mind showing us more but don't lay everything out for us.

As far as the Walter/Jesse cameos, I'm going to assume they wouldn't happen towards the end of the series, and that's if it ends like most figure, around the time Saul meets Walter and Jesse in BB.

One thing I hope they do, maybe in the series finale (assuming it lasts long enough), is the last shot be present day and show Saul being the manager at a Cinnabon.

The ratings don't really reflect this.

Breaking Bad's rating were consistent through Season 4, in the 1.0 to 2.0 range. The first half of Season 5 saw a jump to the 2.0 to 3.0 range, but the ratings didn't really jump until the last 8 episodes, and specifically the finale.

TWD's ratings were good in Season 1 but they have jumped dramatically each season. Season 1 had ratings in the 4.0 to just under 6.0 range, Season 2 was 7.0 to just under 9.0 range, and Season 3 got into the double digits for most of the season and last year's finale had the previous rating record for cable. This season's premiere saw an increase of about 4 million views from last year's finale.

Alright then, let me rephrase what I was trying to say. People caught on to breaking bad late, got caught up through Netflix or whatnot, and blew up the final 8 episodes and because of the hiatus in season 5, it helped fuel that hype for the final 8.

Whereas TWD really caught mainstream from the beginning, so instead of a huge market increase all at once (like BB did), it's been steady -- starting well in season 1 and continuing to grow.

I didn't have any numbers to aid my point, so I just threw out season 4. Obviously, that wasn't a good place to start, because you just told me the ratings jump didn't happen until season 5.

That is some serious praise coming from imo one of the greatest actors ever.

Yeah, I knew what you meant, I was just being anal about it.

Almost everyone I know who likes BB didn't start watching BB regularly until Season 4 or later, and most everyone I knew who like TWD (most of the same people) either started from day 1 with TWD or at the latest caught on sometime in Season 2.

That's me. My sister and her family got mr started watching Breaking Bad during its season 3. My first episode was the episode in the lab with the fly.

A buddy at work told me about TWD between seasons 1 and 2.

Caught up with both on Netflix.
