'14 JUCO WR Lavon Pearson (UT SIGNEE 12/18/13)

After watching his highlights, I agree completely with Fortenberry. Going to be really hard to keep this kid off the field from day 1, especially since he's an EE.

I think he's also ours to lose. I expect a decision from him within 2 weeks.

Does he know you expect a decision from him within 2 weeks? Hold him to it Cities...😊😳

A bit off subject, but can you remember a JuCo Receiver as dynamic a player as CP was out of Junior College? I honestly cannot think of one. This Pearson kid's film is quite impressive though.

There hasn't been many. Maybe Quincy Morgan at K-State, is one that comes to mind at times. But juco WRs hardly ever dominate coming out. That's why most of us didn't think CP would do what he did. To be honest CP is the best physical talent I've ever watched line up at WR on the college level. His athleticism is unmatched. He's a big, strong WR who plays big and small. His after the catch ability is crazy at 6'2.

Don't judge all of Knoxville on Farragut. It's like judging a pack of girls on the Duff.

Bro I have lived in K town all my life till now. It's just my opinion that the suburbs suck. Don't get me wrong though downtown and campus are some of my favorite places in the world.

I think we blow him away on his OV this coming weekend. After Pearson publicly commits... We drop Jackson for good IMO

Was Gardner committed to LSU at some point?

I don't think so. I think he named them his leader but he never qualified out of Juco and declared for the draft. Went undrafted then San Diego picked him up. He backed away from their contract and cut ties with them.

Miami picked him up. And they ended up cutting him in favor of another young wideout. No doubt he would have been a 1st rounder if he had made the grades to play in the SEC or anywhere for that matter.

Wow.

Amazing, the talent that goes wasted because people can't hold their personal lives/priorities together.

He and DaRick Rogers could have conversations over a PBR or two

Not to beat a dead horse, but "most of us"? LOL. Most of us knew CP would be a stud. I mean he was a 5* 99 on 247. And the number one overall JUCO.

These boards were full of skeptics is what I think he's saying.. Most ppl here were trying to temper their expectations because juco wr's rarely make the impact he did

Exactly. Recently, the recruiting sites haven't missed a lot on the higher rated JUCO prospects (at worst, most have at least contributed), but they are definitely not a given indicator that the player will succeed.

Moreover, I don't think it's necessarily reasonable to say that just because a player is rated a 5* on a recruiting site indicates that the player will be a "stud" at the next level. I don't consider DGB a "stud." I don't consider Kyle Prater to be a "stud." The examples go on and on. I don't think we should criticize BB for missing on his evaluation of CP. This is nothing against you, Scotty, just saying in general. CP is just not a good example.

I didn't envision him having the impact he did.

The sad part is, he was severely limited in opportunities.

I didn't either. Very few human beings have the ability that CP has. Extremely rare talent.

Pearson's film looks pretty good to me, but he does not have similar ability that CP had with the ball in his hands. That's not a knock on Pearson, because few individuals in the NFL have comparable ability.

I don't know, he's doing a lot of the same things CP would do with the ball.

Want.

Yep, Patterson's game is get him the ball quick and watch. Pearson's game is watch him go get the ball.

If that makes sense, it makes sense in my head :p

Agreed. It's a highlight video, but he did high point the ball really well. His leaping ability looked pretty dang good. He also showed some burst and long distance speed. Last, he's clearly a big, physical athlete.
