'14 TN WR Josh Malone (UT commit 12/4/13)

If it's 50/50 after this weekend, then I think it was pretty safe to say that UGA led prior to his OV to us.

I hope he sees the chance to play with Vick, Boothe and Creamer as an opportunity to be covered 1 on 1 a lot.

The 50/50 was a guess cause he doesn't know. I think its safe to say nobody really knows what this kid is thinking. So unless Malone says it in an interview, I wouldn't put much stock in it.

He is coming around to what Brent and Paul have been saying consistently for months. The only difference is that I think Tennessee is the team with the slight lead. When we pick up his friend Barnett, that will help even more. Not to mention Sumner County, despite all of its faults, is as "All-Vol" as anywhere west of the Cumberland Plateau.

It happened.

Come home, Malone.

Josh Malone decision date

I'm told he will be announcing his decision on Dec. 4 in a ceremony at his high school. It's still Tennessee, Georgia and Clemson in the mix, with Florida State and likely Florida getting visits later in the fall. FSU and Florida are considered long shots because of the distance factor.

Gotta like distance being a factor...

Yup. And the decision date just happens to come out a few days after his OV to UT? :)

So Malone would make 6 of the top 8 players in the state committed to Tennessee? Butch is the man.

Really 6 of the top 7, Petera Wilson's stock has dropped bigtime, he's not even a take for most of his "offers". And Bars is a ND legacy. Take out Bars and Wilson and Butch gets who he wants.

I agree. I can't wait for the day when we're playing for huge ball games and they announce our starting lineups and you see a bunch of Nashville, TN- Memphis, TN- Knoxville, TN- by the kids names.

Next year is going to be alot tougher, it seems.

More from Woody...

Well, I can tell you that both Tennessee and Georgia feel very confident about their chances. I still think Clemson is running third, but he really likes the idea of playing with Deshaun Watson. I just don't know about the distance factor.

I believe he'll know his decision following the Clemson trip but we'll have to wait a few weeks to get the official word.

As of right now, the top 5 in the state (per 247) are:

1. Rico McGraw
2. Kyle Phillips
3. Jauan Jennings
4. Drew Richmond
5. Donovan Sheffield

McGraw is said to be a 'Bama lean, but I like to picture it more as 50/50 UT/Bama.

Phillips has family ties to Vanderbilt I believe.

Jennings, I honestly don't know anything about his recruitment.

Richmond is probably ours. I'd say 70/30 UT/OSU, because of Barnett and Mosley.

Sheffield has been committed to Vanderbilt for over a year.

That's just how I see the top 5.

I am not sure about that. There are 11 or 12 TN kids in the ESPN 300. We won't get them all, but there is more to choose from.

Give me Richmond, Phillips, McGraw, Josh Smith, Dylan Jackson, Amadi, and Van Jefferson along with the 3 already commited. We have a legitimate shot at all of them. Jennings may be the toughest one.

Our 2015-2017 seasons could be loaded with talent.

Yeah Tennessee talent has definitely improved and that's good for us. I feel Josh Smith will be Vandy because of how close he and his brother are. And is there any news on Jennings or Jefferson naming a top group? I haven't seen.

I agree...somewhat. It will be tougher because there is so much in-state talent that colleges from all over will, and already have, be offering kids left and right.

However...the amount of momentum CBJ and co. have with our high schools, its hard to imagine us not pulling a BIG majority of the top tier in-state guys again.

We don't have much in-state competition. JF has been exposed, VU has peaked and their perceived popularity is disappearing quicker than a virgin on prom night. They just happened to peak at a time when we were down...and just so happened to have one of the worst SEC coaches of all time.

Talent in Tennessee on the rise + Reemergence of UT = Recipe for Success

Sorry, but if Josh Smith goes to Vandy...I won't say it. I think we tried with Emannuel, but he is a different player. Emannuel might need the education. Josh needs to go somewhere that will highlight his talents.

Most of these guys talk. It is never guaranteed but this current class will help with the next. If we show improvement this year and next, 2015 will be just fine.

Yep me too brother! I really like it when they are from lesser know small towns in TN and not just the big cities.
