Someone correct me if I am wrong, but Highschool players are insured against injury. He should be able to have his rehab paid for. When I got injured playing football, I just ran down to Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic, and it was all free.

Of course, the doctors at UT would be preferable., but I'm just saying.

There is a limit to what state insurance pays for an injury( and it's not much!). If the player has other insurance it is billed first and the state insurance picks up the rest until the limit is reached. At least that is the way it was in TN when my daughter got injured playing ball her sophomore year.

I may have missed it but what is the extent of his injury? ACL is what I'm hearing from other posters. I think his future at UT is in his hands with whatever he decides to do. Scholarship will be there for him to come in and do his rehab IMO. If something comes up where we may be able to get a stud then we may ask him to be a preferred walk on but I doubt it.
I would like updates as to his injury, surgery, rehab, etc....
I wish Treyvon the best with his recovery.

I don't think they would ask him to walk on. I think they may ask him to come in January of 2015 (Greyshirt) to give him a full year to rehab his knee. This would only delay his entry to UT by one semester and not start his NCAA clock until 2015 thereby not costing him a redshirt either.. This would mean he would be an EE for the 2015 class. No inside info, jmo.

I'd be interested to know Paulk's feeling on a grey shirt. I would think he would have no problem burning a redshirt next year to be able to rehab at UT. If you are a legit rb, you don't need a greyshirt AND a redshirt even with an ACL injury.

I say we honor the scholly offer. We knew it was a possibility he could get hurt, plus it creates good will with high school coaches and programs. Were TN. We should do what we say we're going to do. I would like to avoid the situation we put ourselves in in Sc this past cycle

A greyshirt does honor the scholly. It just means he enrolls in Jan 2015 instead of summer of 2014

It puts a financial burden on the family if he enrolls in classes so no it doesn't. Plus you put the young man out of sync with his supposed brothers he's helped recruit, and delay the start of his education. I wouldn't want to be put in limbo for six months. We offered him a 2014 scholarship , not a 2015 gray shirt

It only puts a finacial burden on them if he decides to walk on while he waits. He's not going to be able to play in 2014 either way. If you greyshirt him, it gives him an extra year to rehab. He wouldn't even be practicing for a lot of next year. If the coaches give him the option and he decides to greyshirt, I see nothing wrong with it.

If he enrolls, then he isn't a grayshirt. We also don't know what he was offered. It has been the perception since day 1 that he was likely a GS candidate. That wasn't just a rumor.

I would throw it out there to him. If I had a son in his same situation I'd encourage him to do it. It's only really costing him four months. He could enroll in a community college around home a and knock out his English and math. Then enter UT in the winter semester and hit the ground running. Makes a lot of sense to me.

Sucks he got hurt, was hoping he would continue balling out and earn himself a star bump.

He's a great RB.

Hope he fully recovers.

Right, he won't greyshirt and won't need to. He won't even lose much if he redshirts, because if needed, it could be changed to a medical redshirt later. Which leaves him with a regular redshirt option if needed. Which will not likely be needed.

Pretty sure his eligibility clock would start running as soon as he started CC. Better off taking the semester off in that situation.

I hope we bring him in now.

Eligibility clock? It would have no bearing on any eligibility as long as he didn't play football for the community college.

Eligibility clock starts as soon as you enroll in college.

Not sure how it works with a CC, but I assume it's the same as a JUCO.
