Sweden Allows Public Masturbation | TIME.com

A 65-year-old Swedish man was acquitted of sexual assault after pleasuring himself on a beach in Stockholm in June.

The district court of Södertörn tossed out the charge on the grounds that he didn’t look at anybody while fondling himself. The court ruled he had committed no offense, as he did not direct his “activities” at any particular target.

Public prosecutor Olof Vrethammar told the Mitti newspaper that he had no plans to appeal and called the ruling “reasonable.” When asked if the act is now acceptable in public, Vrethammar said public fondling was “okay” – as long as it’s not directed towards a specific individual — but may still be considered “disorderly conduct.”

Regardless, the ruling may serve as a precedent in Sweden, where some uncomfortable public exchanges may be imminent. Our advice? Wait til you get home, folks.

Sure, why not?

Think logically, is there a victim? No.

Why is it that the United States is so freaking sexually conservative, but we can show people getting killed all over television? Backwards country.

hit and miss, still lots of places where a mother and child will be asked to leave. up here it often happens at restaurants, believe it or not.

Interesting, I never recall my wife encountering that. Not sure I would have obliged.

Yep. We are just the opposite of Europe.

I remember the good ol' days when you could be punchin' the munchkin on an airplane and it was merely frowned upon.

Thanks Obama.

There was a lady in a Chik-fil-a in East Tennesse just this past August feeding her baby in the play area. She was asked to leave the restaurant because she refused to stop.

Do you think it makes any difference if the woman uses a cover or not? Or if she pulls both of them out to feed one baby. Just an opinion question.

Is that how Elin Nordegrin first got Tiger's attention? If she started that on a bus I'm sure I'd miss some stops.

Not according to most state laws it doesn't.

I always figured that's what the Swedish chef from the muppets was doing anyway.
Plus, when the cameras panned to the chef, his "hurby, jerby, duhrby.." commentary was akin to mine when my wife busted me in 1993.

Chik-fil-a is dumb and the food sucks, too. Doesn't surprise me one bit that those bastians of conservative Christianity would do that.
