If someone is grayshirting, they will be on campus and practicing with the team, but just paying their own way. Can't they get UT medical attention?
agreed but do need a third RB to come in
So what exactly does a grey shirt do? They can or can't receive UT medical attention? I thought Tino Thomas did.
That was a unique situation. Tino was actually enrolled over the summer in 2011, so he could use Tennessee training facilities. Once he was injured, he withdrew prior to the fall semester and took a grayshirt. In the NCAA bylaws, it says that the summer does not count so that was legit. It seems like a very bizarre stipulation.
Paulk most likely won't be a 100% this time next season. If he is willing to greyshirt then that is probably the best for both parties.
We can proceed with getting another back that can immediately contribute in 2014. We also won't have 3 backs in one class. Paulk would basically be a 2015 commit.
Paulk would greyshirt in 2014 and still have his redshirt for later if need be. He would not be at the mercy of the NCAA when petitioning for a sixth year of eligibility if it came down to it at a later date. 2014 will most likely be a wash for him just like 2013. I would present the scenario(s) and let he and his family choose what is best for him.
