New night shift thread

I just wish we could get everybody in here at the same time again. Maybe when Finding Bigfoot comes back. Ain't nothing like some Squatchin to gather the NS. I bet Renee sexually assaults the first female squatch she finds.

We'll start a Gruden thread for every team hiring a coach after the season. It will be like flies to honey.

Boom?

Rumors out of control. "I saw Gruden wearing a tie with Texas orange and USC red on Monday Night Football! He gets it!"

Trust me when I say this, Snoop whatever it is that he calls himself now, and Will Ferrell already have a deal in place for Gruden, and his handpicked staff. They are just ironing out a few little final details. This deal has been in place for months, they are just giving Kiffin enough rope to hang himself with. Gruden has been friends for a while, and he doesn't want to be seen as the reason for Kiffin getting fired....trust me I know people, who know people who know.

Sooooo..... Was that as brutal a loss as you thought it was going to be? I thought we would keep it respectable. Guess I was wrong.

I said 55-9 in the pre game pick thread...ssooo yeah...pretty much went exactly like I thought it would. It was the worst possible matchup for us at this time.

Same here, at least thought we might see a few more offensive sets with some yards gained.

Didn't think we would win, but thought we might do better than Virginia and an FCS school

Dang, you were almost spot on

I swear it played out almost exactly like I thought.....and I freakin hate it. QB that can't throw straight, read Defense, or run fast + RBs that don't run tough+Receivers who drop too many balls+Defense that is slow, doesn't tackle well, rush well, get off blocks, or cover well, have depth or experience in the d-backfield+learning new scheme. Versus the most high powered offense in CFB on the road at one of the toughest places to play= BLOWOUT of epic proportions.

What doesn't kill us makes us stronger.

And gives the coaching staff a lot of good game tape against a quality opponent rather than someone like APSU or WKY. I figure we'll see some significant changes against Florida this weekend.

This team is just too dang slow, which own it's own could be overcome. The trouble is, the Dooley years have left them so fundamentally unsound. I think of the Penn State teams we played, and how they played Miami. Talent (speed and athletically) wise those teams should have been run off the field, but they were so strong and disciplined fundamentally, they were able to overcome their weaknesses. Our physical talent problems are compounded, and magnified by an almost total lack of understanding fundamental football. It could take take years to undo this. We are either going to have to accept this, or just quit being Vols. Impatience is only going to doom us to more suffering. Butch is a good fundamental coach, whether he is a good strategic gameday coach is irrelevant at this point. This team is going to have to be hammered on fundamentals before any gameplanning is going to make much of a difference. JMO

I think there is a lot of changes we've seen already. The penalties for example are a good measuring stick of how well disciplined this team is. And the other thing that most people ignore is the fact a lot of our offensive talent is first year starters or even in their freshman years. It will take time to bring them up to college standards.

But overall, I think CBJ is on the right track. Getting past the Oregon loss, but applying the lessons learned, will be highly beneficial to this team. I'm still holding strong on my 7-5 prediction and thinking next year we will see even more output on offense.

I am so glad that on that holy night in 1998 that I took the time to say to myself, " I may never see this again in my life."
