Trent Richardson to the Colts

I like Lombardi. He was always a good guest on the BS Report podcasts. Very knowledgeable about the game. Doesn't automatically mean he's worth a sh!t as GM, but I'd give him an opportunity to prove himself. Neither he nor Haslam were high on Richardson or Weeden.

If they get Bridgewater and then Antonio with that next pick I think Cleveland fan will be happy. Or as happy as that lot can be.

I think they are "all in" for bridgewater after this move

Obviously they saw something they didn't like and got good value imo

They play the jaguars December 1 I believe.

Relevant for sure.

Bridgewater is way overrated. He will be drafted as a franchise quarterback, but he will end up not being one. He fits the Browns perfectly.

Sure. They traded away a known commodity - a stud running back for what will end up being a first round draft pick somewhere in the low to mid 20's. With the Browns' stellar track record in the draft, they'll end up paying a future plumber several million dollars a year until he washes out of the league in two to three years. It was a great value move.

But, if the Browns are so terrible at drafting, maybe that means Trent sucks, so it was good they got rid of him?

Is this football incompetence inception?

My guess is that Trent will end up with 1250+ total yards from scrimmage and 14 TD's this season. He's got to be ecstatic tonight. He traded up from a perennial loser organization to a young team on the rise (with a strong passing game that will prevent teams from constantly stacking the box against him).

See mine. You have no way of knowing how this will work out. Stockpiling good draft picks is a good idea when some of your team sucks.

Trading away known high quality players for unknown draft picks is always stupid, especially when you have a track record like the Browns. Richardson was the first solid skill position offensive player that they've had seen the Bernie Kosar era. You also don't want to trade away good players for draft picks from teams that are highly likely to make the playoffs.

But RB is the easiest position to replace in football. If they get a solid linemen or secondary player, that's worth it.

Richardson hasn't proved anything yet and the team that had the best look at him decided they did not want him. I admit that it looks like a good move for the Colts, but I'm in wait and see mode.

Trading away a player at the position most notorious for players wearing down quickly and hopefully having a plan to rebuild the team from the inside out will work. I don't hate the move.

Yep. And the fact that he can catch it a little bit out of the backfield makes me think he'll have success in Indy, but we'll see.

He had over 50 receptions as a rookie on a team with an incompetent rookie QB. Imagine what he will do with a team with a good QB and actual wide receivers that will stretch the field.

Indy just got themselves the best running back that they've had since about the third year of Edgerrin James' career.

Wow. Trading your most promising star for what, at most, looks like a mid-first round draft pick? Oh, those crafty Haslems. I guess they were more involved in AD decision making at UT these past several years than I thought.

Maybe he had that many receptions because he was... their best weapon? haha.

Trent Richardson is better than Joseph Addai and Mike Hart. Watch out, Sweetness!

Trent may be very good. That may be why the Colts... traded a very valuable pick for him.
It is allowed to be a good move for both teams.

If the Browns can just figure out a way to lose that game to the Jaguars, they could end up with both Clowney and a good young QB next year. Not bad.

He was going to help them win.

Assuming they draft wisely (and that is a massive assumption) is say good move by Cleveland. There is only one position on the field that can single handedly win multiple games a season and it's not RB. Richardson would have been just another good back on a bad team for maybe a couple more years.
