If Jones and A J were not on the same page then A J would not be running the wildcat in practice. Jones said previously that the wildcat comes after A J performs at the level he wants defensively, if at all. Therefore a good sign.

It's just rumors, but rumors of a broken wrist with DY. I hope not.

Edit: even a badly sprained wrist could keep him out a week or so. Sprained wrists SUCK!!!

I hope it's only a week. Sutton is next on depth chart. Can y'all imagine a freahman fielding punts. Can y'all imagine.. He will muff one, and it won't be when we are winning by 3 scores late in the fourth. Makes me nervous.

Don't already put that label on a kid when he has done nothing to warrant that label. It is a very real possibility he could muff one, but to assume without seeing him field a punt first is just a negative assumption for no reason

I'm just saying what we all would be thinking. So you wouldn't be more nervous that a freshman is fielding punts? Givin our track record of shooting ourselves in the foot. I'm not a negative poster/person. I'm a 49er fan also, so I guess I have nightmares about fielding punts and and special teams lol. Sorry to come off negative. I hope DY heals quick and hope sutton kills it. Pray that sutton stays healthy . Hopefully the injury bug doesn't linger in Knoxville this year

How is Sutton second string returner when Jacob Carter was the other Vol fielding punts last Saturday?

Sutton is too valuable to risk injury in a blowout as a returner???


I would think there are 3 levels to a special teams depth chart

1st team

2nd team if anybody is injured

And mop up duty to protect key players from injury

Per a poster on VQ about DY. TIFWIW

"Have class with him right now. He just walked in in a full hard cast on his left arm and in a sling. Not sure what the exact injury is, but it looks pretty serious."

During that open practice about 3 weeks ago, Sutton fielded about 15 punts in the monsoon. He caught every one of them except his last one. And Darr basically shanked the last one to Cam. He had to run like 15-20 yards on a full sprint to try and catch it.

Injuries happen, it's part of the game. Other teams have had it much worse so far this season. Next man up...
