1/3 of our current 2014 recruits are top 10 at their position! Where is Lambert rated, noticed that he is not on that list...

I like where this is headed :)

I'm going to the Bama game this year. If we lose(I never count a loss until it happens) and you hear about a Bama fan getting beat up yeah I did it. :)

Only one? Somewhat disappointed here BB, at least whup one more for the rest of us that cannot go to the game...

What will you do when UT wins :)

I don't think Rivals has the JUCO ratings up yet but 247 has Lambert rated #1 JUCO SDE in the nation. They have Weatherd rated #1 JUCO OLB in the nation.

Anyone know when all the high school games with UT commits or recruits with interest in UT are this weekend?

I know Hurd and Malone square off Sunday at noon eastern time on espn or espn2.

I know Norcross plays Booker T of FL but forgot what night.
Anyone know all the games of interest and times?

Btw, love how espn has been showing more and more hs games. Lot of good hs teams and different regions of the country getting good exposure. Middle TN being one of those regions the last two years.

I posted this in the recruiting rankings thread, and thought I would share it here as well. Our class isn't made better by having a higher rivals ranking, but it is fun to think about!

We are looking great on both Hendrix and Malone right now. I know that rivals points don't mean a lot, but it is still interesting to think about. As far as my quick calculations go, our 19th and 20th recruits are worth 165 on rivals. If we add Malone and Hendrix, they would be worth 188 (135 for 6.0, and 53 for #30 overall) and 150 (120 for 5.9, and 30 for his 114 ranking) respectively. This means we would add an additional 173 points to our team total (gaining 338, and losing the 165 from Wolf and Bryant). This would put us at 2484 points total. Last year that would have put us at #8 overall, and only 12 points behind #7. This is without gaining any other 5.8 or better recruits!

If we add Hendrix and Malone, we would have an excellent shot at a top 5 class. Based on last years numbers, we would only need 177 more points (after Malone and Hendrix).

THIS IS NOT A DRILL. THE RAPTURE IS COMING.

Palardy made All-SEC. Palardy made all-SEC.

Definitely best case scenario, but very realistic, also.

Not that it matters, but that would put us firmly in the Top 5.

Maybe top 5. Rivals changed their formula last year so we only have one year to reference. Of the guys listed only Evan Berry, Blair, Malone, Hendrix, & Barnett would add to our score. We have 2311 right now and the net add for those 5 is 254 (assuming my math is correct) putting us at 2565. #7 last year was 2496 and #6 was 2641. We could get top 5 but I'm not sure it's a complete given at the moment. As long as we hold on to what we've got and close as suggested it's an incredible success wherever it ends up.

I think we finish somewhere between 5-8. A few rating bumps go our way and we could end up top 5.

I think around 4th in the conference, maybe 5th or 6th depending on how everyone else finishes.

If (as many have predicted) we were to close with:

Josh Malone
Dontavious Blair
Dewayne Hendrix
Derek Barnett
Evan Berry

And none of our current players received any bumps,
We would finish with 2580 points

Last year (correctly pointed out above as the only possible year for reference), that would have put us at:

#4 class in the SEC
#7 class in the Country

:hi:

"Wearing green jerseys were: Johnathon Johnson, Marlin Lane, Pig Howard, Brian Randolph, Justin King, Curt Maggitt and Greg King. Dressed but in the 'black hole' were: Alex Ellis, Corey Vereen, Jacques Smith, Ryan Jenkins and Michael Williams, who was out of the sling on his shoulder. Kicker George Bullock also did some work in the hole.

Most black stripes on freshmen and newcomers were gone, with the scholarship exceptions of Brett Kendrick and Malik Brown. Walk-on punter Trevor Daniel had a black stripe but he also commanded attention with his punts, far outshining Matt Darr. Daniel just joined the Vols this week. Thomas Edwards was the other walk-on still with a black stripe on his helmet.

Speaking of rookies, Riley Ferguson added a visor to his helmet. Several Vols had a plastic wrapping on the fronts of their helmets as they wore their new lids, without decals, and UT staff worked to keep the helmets unscathed."

WTF Darr?

Maybe the walk-on punter should take his black stripe off and put it on Darr's helmet.

Darr and Meredith are prime candidates to not have their scholarship renewed, if I'm Butch Jones. Meredith can't seem to walk five steps with injuring or reinjuring himself and Darr...how the F was he ever considered a (or the) top punter by some recruiting services???

The guys are wasting scholarships on a roster that could easily use them, if they were available.

Hate to sound so callus but that's the way it is...

"Quarterback decisions likely Monday. He said he wants to sit down with each of them and talk before that decision."

Matt Darr shanked multiple kicks (including one that bounded over the Haslam Field fence and into the street), let a snap get past him and had another attempt partially blocked.

Another punt return rep was halted by Jones after neither side of the ball was moving fast enough, prompting Jones to remind receivers coach Zach Azzanni, who works with punt returners, where he was.

“Do it again, they’re all walking,” Jones barked. “You don’t have Antonio Brown, coach. That was Central Michigan. This is the SEC!”

On the other side of the practice field, Justin Coleman had a field goal block, which was scooped up by freshman Cameron Sutton, who scored on the play but not before getting the attention of Jones, who corrected his scooping form.

Sutton later fair caught a punt — not acceptable during practice.

“Why are you fair catching freshman?” Jones yelled. “C’mon, coach! In so many days it’s live bullets!”

Marquez North and Woody Quinn were used as leapers on the field goal block unit.

Jones made his kickoff team re-break the huddle after a lackluster first attempt.

“That’s embarrassing!” Jones yelled, calling his team back to the huddle. “1-0-2-4-5-5 are watching us break the huddle!”

That number, Neyland Stadium’s capacity, was a common reference during the practice, with kickoff just nine days away.

Jones gave most of his non-special teams attention to wide receiver and quarterback drills, where again freshman receiver Josh Smith got the brunt of the head coach’s microphone.

“Catch it, Josh!” Jones yelled into the mic after a drop. “If you can’t handle me, how are you going to handle 102,455?”

Later in the drill he was back after Smith.

“You gotta grow up in a hurry, Josh!” Jones said. “You don’t have a choice. We don’t have that luxury. That’s why you came here, Josh. You said you wanted to play as a true freshman!”

SIAP ...but just heard Butch on the radio with the 3HL crew and he said TN players have chips in their pads which will allow them to measure a players hit velocity, heart rate, distance ran, etc. Pretty amazing stuff. Which we could see the "hit velocity" on some of the all time UT greats... EB being the first that comes to mind.
