Valerie Plame? impeachable offense
fired US attorneys? impeachable offense
post-Katrina? impeachable offense
mortgage bubble? impeachable offense

in fact, the only scandal, phony or otherwise, that LG and the left didn't try to pin on Bush was the murder of Chandra Levy

The normal starting point is a reasonable, binding budget. Ideally, it should be a budget that removes the original stimulus package from the baseline and aligns spending with revenue. No progress will be made if we continue to operate on continuing resolutions.

The budget is one of the most basic responsibilities that our government has. The incompetence and lack of responsibility of the current administration and Congress is astounding.

Both sides falsely promise that they'd cut spending in their pet areas... but they then condition it on the other side cutting theirs, when they know it won't happen.

Obama swears he would cut social spending - if the GOP would agree to increased taxes on the wealthy. They won't. He knows that.

The GOP says they would cut defense spending and oil company subsidies - if Obama would cut food stamps and u/e benefits. He won't.

Both sides keep their base happy. Nothing gets done.

This is not excuse not to pass an annual budget.

A few side notes....Obama did get rates raised on wealthy individuals. Rates to the top two brackets went up by 3% - 3.6% starting in January of this year. Additionally, SS taxes were set back to their original rates for everyone.

And what's your definition of an oil subsidy?

Don't forget that Obamacare also has an income surcharge on the "wealthy". Overall we are looking at a pretty significant increase.

If you've ever taken a look at the budgets proposed by Obama, one can only come to the conclusion that they are a joke. One - maybe two - received 0 votes from either side of the aisle.

I believe the reason this was done was to keep the stimulus money in the baseline. That's the way it works if an official budget is not passed (which, BTW, is required by law). Keep in mind the stimulus package was around 800 Billion, and there you have a large portion of your deficit explained.
