Good is a stretch. Go with the future.

I don't think it's fair to say Worley isn't good. He's been put in some terrible situations. We don't really have a clue. Do I think Dobbs and Ferguson have more talent? Absolutely. But will their talent be ready to show in the first year? I'm not so sure.

If we go with Worley, I'll be okay with it.

If we go with Ferg or Dobbs, I'll be okay with that too.

I don't know which is the right answer.

This is how I see it too.

Good post :good!:

Good is a stretch. Go with the future.

This is what I think ends up happening. Unless Worley is just playing lights out all year I think we'll see one of the other three begin to emerge for the future.

Just think, Going into '15, we'll hopefully have a Jr qb with a full year of experience (and at least one solid backup) and this current class will be sophomores. That's when the sleeping giant really starts to wake up!

I'm fully expecting to welcome Oklahoma to Knoxville with a big ole ass kicking in 15'.

Here's what I think should happen:

We should go with the QB who instills the most confidence in his teammates and the QB who can get us in-and-out of play calls, adjust to the defense, and take the play given to him.

Who is that? I don't know. I don't think the coaching staff knows either.

But here's what I think. I think they've seen what they've got in Worley and they're not tremendously excited about it. And they're going to give the younger QB's the chance to pass him. If they can't, it's not necessarily a bad thing. It just means they're not ready yet.

You go with the future...Worley is not going to be the QB long term, and may not even be the QB short term...pick the best Freshman and role with it...

Having said all of that I'd be surprised if Worley doesn't start the first game...just what I think happens anyway

It's going to be pretty bad if someone can't separate themselves...we have a terrible situation at QB right now...

It has the chance to get better or at least show some promise for the future as the season goes along, but it won't be with Worley under center...

What if Worley IS the best QB?

You say he isn't the QB of the future, but, I mean, he has two more years.

What if he's the best QB for the next two years?

I'm not saying he is... but what if?

Disagree.

If they can't, they need to be flipping a QB by NSD.

Is that the first game of '15? Gonna look like Cal when they came in here

I don't know. I just know I'm super pumped about both the Oklahoma and Nebraska home and homes. I mean....just let that sink in for a minute. Look at all time major statistics. Nearly every major statistical category historically has Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Nebraska in them. Games against the Oregons of the world are cool, but even with their recent success Oregon doesn't perk my interest like Oklahoma and Nebraska. These are big time programs!!!! The thought of going to their stadiums with my son and hosting them in Neyland....I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

I don't know which is the right answer.

One scenario I could see playing out is Worley operating the vanilla version of our offense the first two games, then Peterman or one of the frosh QBs bringing thier running ability to the draw-read game.

I could actually see Peterman being used like Connor Shaw was last year.

In this case, it would give teams like Oregon and UF an added element to deal with, and they would have little or no film to go off of. (Sort of like what the 49ers did switching to Colin Kaepernick mid-season)

Who is the most mobile out of that group? I think the guy who can gain a couple of yards here and there with his feet is the guy who's going to give us the best boost in offensive production and sustaining drives. Especially with the young receivers, we're not going to have 40 yard bombs to CP and Hunter to bail us out.
