Xbox One No Longer Requires Kinect to Function - IGN

Still not clear on whether or not MS will offer a Kinect-less sku at 100.00 cheaper but I'd be willing to bet that's coming.

Funny, all these grand plans MS had, and none of them made it through the summer! They "Romneyed" their way out of everything they originally wanted to do. Amazing just how clueless and out of touch they were! They're still not getting my money, f _ _ k you MS!

I still cannot understand why a company would go to such extreme measures to alienate it's customers.

Sony has a prime chance to really clean up this gen. Microsoft has been a PR disaster and the Wii U hasn't sold jack.

One of the greatest marketing scheme failures in my memory, it's up there with the Corvair. As annoying a SOB BraveVolunteer is, he more or less called this one shot for shot:hi:

PS4 was ordered after the MS E3 debacle.

Why is everyone so butthurt? They listened to their customers and changed up months before the product is even released. I don't understand what's so upsetting about this.

They aren't the first console to make a bad decision.

I have no issues with them backpedaling. I will get an Xbox One down the road but I was looking forward to a change. I had no issues with Kinect being always on or some of the other things they were going to implement.

My last two consoles were Xbox and Xbox 360. I had a lot of fun on those machines. When I found One had those unwanted features I was ready to switch to Sony (without any anger in my heart). Now I will reconsider.

Do they still have the issue where you can't buy used games?

I honestly have no idea. I had a 360 and a PS3, I am going with SOny to start. Will still grab an Xbox One down the road.

I think they backed off the used game ban as well. As for the hate, I think the majority of it is just Sony fanboys who never planned on buying an XBone in the first place reveling in MS taking a few missteps. I don't know of anyone who owns and likes a 360 that is still taking an "F MS" approach. I know of some people who were initially put off by the planned changes, but as you said, they listened to their customers and acted accordingly.

Pretty much everyone I play with, and I've had 360 from day 0. All of my friends are going Sony this time around.

I really want to like the PS4, but I've spent some time recently on a PS3 and I'm not too fond of it.

I always preferred Xbox and 360. I only bought the PS2 slim when GTA San Andreas was released and I just bought a PS3 this past black friday because it was only 200 bucks with 4(or 5) games. I've always been an Xbox fanboy since the original and never liked the PS3 or it's light controller when it was first released. But... playing the Uncharted series and Infamous got me accustomed to it. If you haven't played those games, maybe that would help you get into it?

P.s. Can I get an updated Astros team icon under our usernames? :)

Just looks weird seeing black/red when they're blue/orange now and have a different star.

I haven't played either of those games. I intended to pay The Last of Us. But never got around to it.

Email me the logo you want and I will fix it.

I played PayDay 2 for several hours on both systems and the Xbox version was much much better. Granted that's not much of a sample size.

One thing I really haven't done on my PlayStation is actually play games. I've bought 3 iterations of The Show and that's it, outside of the free games i got for the hacking incident.

Also part of it is the gaming media/market is no different in many ways to others, meaning once something gets out it's kind of hard to change the perception. It's not the majority but there is definitely a chunk of the market made of fickle fans who probably only play COD and Madden and probably went with the "F MS" and ran with it.

I think MS is going to have to drop the price to $399 to fully get back. Considering the $499 price tag was supposedly due to all the things they've now taken out, if they keep it that high then they're still going to have backlash.
