Ahh Madeiu Williams lol. I just assumed Cary as Cary played for the Ravens and Michael is from MD. Big age difference

The depth issues on defense are exactly why I supported Dooley as long as I did.

In the end, I think the correct decision was made, but I hope people claiming anything less than 7 wins will be a disappointment can take a real objective look at the roster after the season is over.

Spot on. People upset over losing Jones must be people who thought we had a shot at 8+ wins. My view that 6 is a reasonable number remains unchanged by this news.

Dallas started the Saturday morning scrimmage, according to Woodberry.

I don't think he was buried, although I'm not sure why they would move him if he was expected to break out...

He may have started, but that doesn't mean he was going to start week 1. He was a guy that could play slot or outside, but here's a list of guys I would play before VD in no order:
North
Croom
Carter
Devrin
Pig
Johnson
Possibly Ryan Jenkins/Paul Harris

I had kind of expected that North, Croom, Dallas, and Carter would be your main 4 on the outside with Blanc and Harris contributing some. To me, that seemed to be the way it was shaping up; but it looks like I may have been wrong?

I'm not upset at the move, maybe a little surprised. I'm more upset at the injury to Johnson than anything. I think 6 wins is realistic, but I'm still really hoping we exceed that by beating somebody we're not supposed to. Injuries happen, but I was hoping we could avoid problems at CB.

Didn't mean to imply anyone was saying it was positive, was really referencing your post about depth not much of a concern, assuming there aren't anymore injuries...I disagree. CB was already a position we desperately needed improvement and all the talented bodies we could take. Jones going down for the year is significant, much like Moore's was last year IMO. If a walk-on (Williams) is in your rotation at DB in the SEC, that's BAD. :hi:

Dallas being moved to CB will help, but I guess I'm surprised that he wasn't higher up in the rotation at WR. I know we have some talented younger WR's but, he was a decent contributor last season, whom I thought would progress more this year, I suppose.

Painting with some pretty broad strokes there, aren't you? I don't recall many people on here feeling confident about Teague. Waggoner showed flashes throughout his career and was a decent contributer, but I don't think anyone ever touted him as much more than an "average" CB in the SEC.

I just never realized EXACTLY how slow he was, however...and I don't think I'm alone in that regard. His 40 at UT's pro day was astounding to me. I knew he was slow but holy ****

Yikes. Need to dial down expectations on Woody Quinn, at least for the first part of the year.

Having them in both places is ideal IMO. This thread is too wide ranging. I often open it, see there is 8 pages of discussion, and skip right to the last page. On the Ferguson page for example, it gets bumped with a relevant update and I can see it right away and not open it again while waiting for the chatter to die down and the bump goes away.

That's interesting.

Honestly, when Rucker says seemingly stupid stuff (like that a true freshman relatively unheralded WR will start over a true freshman 4 star, that was regarded as our best signee ,and has been publicly lauded by the coaches) I tend to believe it.

He likes to bait people into disagreeing with them so he can rub their nose in it when he's right.

I've been quiet on people's expectations on Quinn but...I just don't see it.

He's played one year of football in college but is better known for his contributions on the volleyball court than the football field. I'm not saying the guy won't turn out to be a player and I've liked what I've heard from camp but I think people hear volleyball and automatically think we've got the next Antonio Gates...that's putting waaaay to high expectations on a kid who's never played a snap of SEC ball.

Perhaps he starts to turn it on by the end of the year and really gets moving next season but he has a long way to go. He has great potential but that's really it, atm.

If you looked at the top of page 2, it's mostly current commits, a bunch of guys who are no longer considering us, and maybe 3 or 4 relevant guys who just haven't had much news lately.

People getting worked up over what's on the front page is kind of silly to me, but to each his own.

I am not saying he will be the next crossover-TE-superstar, but it is also possible that Elder's expectations are through the roof (not saying they shouldn't be by any means) and Woody has fallen a little short of those so far. The coaches expect the world of players and I am sure it motivates the player if they aren't meeting them. Also, I am not sure if Woody WAS the next Jimmy Graham in his first two weeks of camp that Elder would say so in an effort to avoid complacency or over confidence.
