The depth issues on defense are exactly why I supported Dooley as long as I did.
In the end, I think the correct decision was made, but I hope people claiming anything less than 7 wins will be a disappointment can take a real objective look at the roster after the season is over.
On the first, I don't think anyone is saying otherwise.
On the second, it doesn't instill confidence, but with him buried on the WR depth chart, why not move him to a position he is needed for depth and will receive a handful of snaps instead of afew snaps a game where he's not needed?
He may have started, but that doesn't mean he was going to start week 1. He was a guy that could play slot or outside, but here's a list of guys I would play before VD in no order:Dallas started the Saturday morning scrimmage, according to Woodberry.
I don't think he was buried, although I'm not sure why they would move him if he was expected to break out...

North
Croom
Carter
Devrin
Pig
Johnson
Possibly Ryan Jenkins/Paul Harris

Good news, IMO. Auburn defense struggling right now with "overload." We know all about that. That may help us, if that continues.

Funny how you guys trusted Waggner and Teague more than these new guys. For what reason I have no idea. I personally am very excited to see Sutton. Hate to hear the Jobes news but what did we lose outside of run support with Gordon?
I disagree. It's nice to have them all in one place.
Rucker just said Josh Smith will have more catches than North and he also says Smith would start if the season started today

"We're taking baby steps forward. I'd like to see leaps and bounds at this point in time. So, it's not where I want it. No, it's not. I wish I could say it the other way, but I'm seeing progress, but it's not where it needs to be, and it's not nearly fast enough. Not nearly fast enough at this point."
Yikes. Need to dial down expectations on Woody Quinn, at least for the first part of the year.
Having them in both places is ideal IMO. This thread is too wide ranging. I often open it, see there is 8 pages of discussion, and skip right to the last page. On the Ferguson page for example, it gets bumped with a relevant update and I can see it right away and not open it again while waiting for the chatter to die down and the bump goes away.
The most vicious part came when Jones called out a veteran player, saying he likes telling people he plays Tennessee football, puts a big sticker on his car, but is unwilling to put in the work. And, Jones said, his teammates know it. Ouch.
I've been quiet on people's expectations on Quinn but...I just don't see it.
He's played one year of football in college but is better known for his contributions on the volleyball court than the football field. I'm not saying the guy won't turn out to be a player and I've liked what I've heard from camp but I think people hear volleyball and automatically think we've got the next Antonio Gates...that's putting waaaay to high expectations on a kid who's never played a snap of SEC ball.
Perhaps he starts to turn it on by the end of the year and really gets moving next season but he has a long way to go. He has great potential but that's really it, atm.
