Injuries piling up for Florida

Post from an insider on Florida's board...

Mentioned it in other thread, Jeff will be fine, hope to have him back by Monday. Jones situation could be much worse, and best case scenario is he is back in 2 weeks. I asked what's worse case, and was told redshirt. I think they don't know yet and just have to wait.

**Rumors** are that it's possibly meningitis, or something presenting like meningitis. That's scary, I dated a girl who went deaf from a case of viral meningitis

Did they talk about the shape of their 2 starting guards?

Did they talk about the shape of their 2 starting guards?

only thing I could find

Florida opens camp with six players it was expecting to have in some capacity not cleared to participate. That includes starting quarterback Jeff Driskel (appendicitis), running back Matt Jones (viral infection), both right guards - Jon Halapio (torn pectoral muscle) and Trip Thurman (shoulder) - and left guard Max Garcia (back). Freshman Buck linebacker Jordan Sherit (meniscus) will not be cleared for full contact until August 19. With the exception of Jones, whose timetable is unknown for at least another week, none of these issues appear like they will impact the regular season. All injured players except Jones and Sherit spoke with reporters Thursday.

Could somebody please build the gators and the bammers a freaking message board?

I'm not a mod, so my opinion here is only worth so much (or little), but I welcome any and all rational fan for discussion.

If it involves Florida or Bama it intrinsically involves us. Discussing with, again, rational and knowledgeable fans here condenses things and keeps us from having to go there for information.

I'd far rather get a short snippet from Lawrence or 99 (LG doesn't meet requirements) over having to devoid myself of my dignity and go on a Florida site to find out what their depth/talent is looking like.

I agree, theses two seem to know their Florida stuff. So I'm with you on talking to knowledgeable fans from wherever and seeing how not only florida will stack up to us, but how they think we will perform down there in the swamp.

(I've only read 99, lawerance and lawgators stuff, never really posted with them)

Oh and lawgator +1 for the avi. damn is all I can say....damn.

The ignore feature is your friend.

Use it.

Nahh, I'd rather just complain. Oh BTW Vols, I wouldn't get too giddy about other teams injuries. We have fall camp starting today. I wouldn't want to cause any bad JuJu for our boys.

I don't know what to tell you.

Jelani Jenkins was hurt a lot last year and so Morrison played a lot. As did the other starting lb's for this season.

They will play 8 or more d lineman. All of them have played.

When I say "played", I'm talking meaningful playing time.

They have more corners than they know what to do with.

And beyond all else, I won't make too many definitive statements about will muschamp, but one of them is that he can seriously coach defense.

As far as the offense goes, there isn't one of those guys who anyone believes will not be on the field for week 1

So your biggest concern should be with greenhorns missing assignments and too many/few men on the field. Kind of what we dealt with under CDD.

Don't try to discount losing 8 players on your defense as no big deal.

Don't discount having 2 of your 6 returning Offensive starters and 4 total predicted starters not active for the start of Fall camp.

Unless you think both Gs, the QB and the RB aren't a big deal to a power running team.

Give'em hell!!! That's how it should be. It's kickoff month and i'm tired of all of this hand holding with the frenemies on this site. We Gon WhIP Dey ASS!

We've been saying it for 8 straight years now, so I guess it has to be true sometime. I expect their streak to get to 10 before we really "should" beat them. And even that is just hoping at this point. We lose a ton next year, and they don't lose much, so year 3 under CBJ should be our best chance

So he should be good for the season but he will likely miss most if not all of Fall Camp. Yikes.

Seems good for you guys that both Driskel and Jones were ID'd early and dealt with. Both seem like it could have been a lot worse.

I agree...the silver lining is our backup RBs Brown and Taylor get more reps. They need all the help they can get with learning pass block assignments...not that we'll be passing all that much.

No worries at all about Driskel or the other injuries. Everyone but Jones will likely be on the field for the opener.

If you look only on starters lost when analyzing Florida's defense, you will be horribly disappointed. That defense is loaded with talent at all 3 levels.

The only player on this list that will probably miss actual game time is Morrison, and that is because he is suspended.

Edit - I bet they sit Jones for the opener.

We want to beat them at their best, then there are no excuses. Go Vols.

I hate this sentiment. I don't care if they are at their best, worst, or somewhere in the middle. I just want to beat Florida period. Nobody remembers the circumstances 10 years, 5 years, or even 2 years ago like when Hunter went down the 1st series for us. All people remember is who won and who lost.
